Assalamu Walaikum, and greetings to everyone. I'm Aisha Muhammad, the first American-born Pakistani in my family. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm the oldest sibling, with a 7-year-old brother named Isa and a 13-year-old sister named Aya. We live in New York City, one of the busiest cities in America.
I'm a junior at Norman High School and an honor student in all my classes—except for math, but we don't talk about that. My dream is to become a South Asian fashion designer and eventually graduate from the most prestigious fashion school in New York. I hope to open my own boutique one day. My parents don't approve of this path, as they hope I'll go to medical school and become a doctor or nurse. But that's just not who I am.
Life has had its ups and downs, especially growing up in a Desi household, but that's normal for me. Without further ado, this is my story.
