"Rosa!" She yelled from downstairs, "Help me with the dishes!"

I groaned, "Wasn't it Tati's turn today!" I stood up from the bed, yelling back.

I threw my phone on the bed and went into the corridor lazily. Going towards the kitchen I repeated, "Wasn't it Tati's turn today?"

"Tati studies in the afternoon and you know that too," Mamma replied.

I walk towards the sink and start on the job not before sighing.

The kitchen was mostly silent except for the noise of the water and mamma's chopping knife slicing the vegetables.

"Mamma," I called without turning and scrubbed the dishes.

She hummed back in response.

"Where did you and papi meet for the first time?"

This time her hum was rather confused, "I think--"

"Regina mio!" She was cut short by papi's excitement, who'd just entered the house.

[My queen!]

"Mi cuore! I'm in the kitchen!" She raised her voice for him to hear.

[My heart!]

He came in and claimed her lips while I cringed and washed the spoon in my hand.

"Cocca! Mi gioia!" He came to me and kissed my cheek.

[Sweetie! My joy!]

"I'm named Rosalina, caro padre." I spoke as he walked back to mamma and sat down at the barstool on the other side of the counter.

[dear father.]

"Eccentric of a daughter." He mumbled.

"Perché, grazie." I glanced at him, letting him know that I heard him.

[Why, thanks.]

He scoffed.

"But what are you so excited about?" Mamma asked.

"Guess?"

"Won a lottery? Had free sample desserts on the way?" She chuckled.

"No, amore mio. Un viaggio! That too, next week!" He yelled.

[No, my love. A road trip!]

"A road trip!?" I yelled back, "I have exams next week!"

I stomped my foot and finished stacking up the utensils.

"Sorry, principessa." He laughed, "It is more of a business trip."

[Princess.]

I turned around and folded my arms, raising an eyebrow.

"Our chairman is giving his place to his grandson and wants the inner circle to introduce themselves at the main quarters with famiglia." He explained.

[Family.]

"I am devastated." I looked at mamma who was just smiling and chopping the carrots.

"We'll be back after two days. Socialising party is all that to it." He reassured.

"But I'm afraid, I do not care when you come back." I said dramatically, "I am just worried about the papera in this big house!"

[Duck.]

Papi laughed and mamma giggled.

"Unfortunately, we can't leave you alone at home." Mamma interjected.

"Unfortunately, I might sell Tati for a pair of socks then." I retorted.

"Mi Tesoro, how about we take Tati with us." Papi said winking at me, "Two days isn't long, besides, we can always call her to check."

[My darling/honey,]

I wo-hoed silently behind mamma as she nodded.

Papi chuckled and decided to go to their room to change.
___

"Tati!" Mamma called for her as she plated the food.

"Tatiana!" She called again. When no answer was received, she huffed angrily and went upstairs, muttering curses under her breath.

Mamma would never curse before of Tati and others but would not hold back in front of papi and sometimes me too, after that one time, I heard her curse papi on the phone.
___
Everyone had dinner cheerfully and went to their respective bedrooms.

I headed to my study and pulled out a few books before pulling out my phone to scroll through my feed.

Just in case mamma decided to 'check' on me.

It's not that she didn't believe me... I think she thought of me as a brat after that one time she caught me watching porn... too much information...

I heard a knock on the door and shoved my phone inside the desk immediately.

Tati opened the door and took the liberty to fall on the sofa.

"Get out." I ordered.

"As if." She muttered while looking at me, her head hanging from the sofa. "You're not coming to the party?"

"What party?" I looked at her exasperated.

"The road trip, idiota."

[Idiot]

"Rude." I looked at her with murderous intent.

She sat up and looked at me silently feeling guilty under my gaze.

"No, I'm not." I flipped the page of the book, which I had definitely not read.

"I have a bad feeling about this trip though..." She looked at her feet.

"Still scared of the chairman?" I chuckled.

"Be honest, his first impression was scary." She looked at me again.

"Call me if you feel alone or in danger." I said assuring her.

"What will you do?"

"What can I not do?"

She scoffed.

"But on a serious note," I stood up and walked around the desk and climbed it, "luogo, persona, punto di riferimento-- say these three first if in danger."

[Place, person, landmark--]

"Persona?"

"Just in case I get to go on one of those 'You killed my family I will get revenge' tragedies." I gave her the pencil on my desk, "You can stab that guy with this."

We laughed a little and I sent her back, "Besides, the trip is a week away I'd be more than happy to see you in hell."

"Wow, you're an amazing idiota for saying that."

"Hey! You--" She ran away before I could grab her.
