"Ha? You want to speak, Alhaitham? No thank you. I'm not interested." I said as I glared at him and tried breaking his grasp on my hand.

He only hummed in disapproval. "I apologize for my behavior."  he said as his teal emerald eye orbs looked at mine.

I left a laugh. "You? Apologize? My foot! Do you even know what being apologetic means Alhaitham?" I said to him as I turned and looked at his face. For the first time, he had a taken back look.

There was a silence between us. Neither of us wanted to speak now nor say anything to add more fuel to the conversation.

"..Is that how you have also seen me?" He asked in a low tone, leaving my hand as he took two steps back, with a slightly disappointed look on his face. Yet he managed to stand composed.

For some reason, I felt bad for being the villain in this scene. Perhaps, I should have remained a little more mature while talking.

"Very well then...I came to clear a misunderstanding. I cannot no, I do not remember what happened. I don't even recall, how I was injured in the first place. That's the most honest answer I can give you, whether you trust me or not." He said as he turned around, deciding to leave.

I couldn't help but accept he was being genuine. If Alhaitham lied, he wouldn't leave the conversation just like that. He would make sure that the lie had a proper base to it. That was something I learnt from Kaveh.

Even his gaze wasn't deceiving me. Before he walked away from where we stood, he slightly moved his head looking at me with one of his eyes, telling.

"I've never looked down to you as a scholar too. I hope I don't have to remind you that." He said.

I couldn't help but immediately respond.

"You confuse me Alhaitham...it's almost like I can never truly understand your words....at times you seem like you actually care about someone like me and at times you are...." I said as I was at loss for words.

"Annoying towards you? That is perhaps my way of gaining your attention. I wanted to see if you were really dedicated to this mission, Y/n." He said as he turned around and looked at me with his usual expression.

"Why wouldn't I be dedicated to this? I've not spent just a  single year on this work!" I raised my voice back at him.

A silence soon again enveloped the tense atmosphere. If anyone were to pass-by they would assume us to be fighting with each other but I was glad no one was around.

"Ever heard of a scholar by the name, Elisha?" He asked out of the blue, leaving me confused on why he was bringing her up here.

"I do. Previous Vahumana Scholar who had tried proving 'the Lost History' being a fake story that was fabricated by the Akademiya. She and her husband who was from Haravatat Darshan, were about to prove it wrong until an unfortunate accident stumbled upon them, ending their lives."  I said.

"Most people don't even know what accident happened to the two. What happened to the case? Why was it brought up again with you?" Alhaitham said in loops of questions that soon began hurting my head.

"Don't beat around the bush and get to the point, Alhaitham." I scoffed and replied back.

"I am Elisha's son, the very same scholar who took this mission up years ago. The only reason why I volunteered up to take part in a mission with you was because you were about to handle the same mission that took my mother and father's life away."

I looked at him in disbelief. Elisha was one of Vahumana's most respected scholars in the past and Alhaitham was her son. "So you are telling, this mission has risks?" I asked back curiously.

"Preventing things is better than letting it happen again. Unfortunately...it was me who nearly lost my life this time but I do not remember who attacked me."

"Why. Just why do you want to protect me from such assumptions, Alhaitham? Why did you even risk your own life? I'm being extremely stupid right now but just why of all people, me ?" I asked as I looked at him.

"I don't know either. I have been rather having conflicting thoughts too. I am not to best person to talk about emotions but. Somehow I have lately taken a liking to you and your presence." He said as he looked away for a moment, unable to bring his eyes to look at me.

My heart kept beating at a faster pace, unable to comprehend the situation. Alhaitham liking me and my presence? Was he really okay after his injury?

Deep in me, I felt like he wasn't lying. I could hear the sincerity in his voice but yet I couldn't come in terms with this feeling. Not too long ago I denied such feelings but now it came back rushing to me.

Almost as if I've always had this admiration or wanted this feeling to last forever, even if it meant for me to hide it.

"Alhaitham, are you even sure of what you are saying or am I slowly turning myself into a lunatic?" I said as I was in disbelief.

"I am aware of what I've said so far. I am done of admiring you from the dark, Y/n. Though you've only seen me as a rational person, it will be hard for you to comprehend what I said. I don't want you to be like me back in a forced way. I'm fine if you continue to hate me forever as well." He said with a slight smile on his face.

That was the first time I saw a smile on him. A genuine smile of happiness.

"Perhaps, Kaveh was right about one thing in his entire life. I should quit bottling up these denied emotions that I myself never knew about because now I feel more at ease."

"I...I am sorry Alhaitham...I-...I was wrong..." I began stuttering as a tear rolled down my face as I was slightly emotional.

He walked closer to me and wiped the wet tear stain off my face, lifting my chin and looking at me.

"Neither tears suit you nor does apologies. You aren't at fault. Despite hating me, I have to thank you for healing me and rescuing me."

I let out a weary chuckle. "I did not hate you.....to think that I've actually liked you but still hid these feelings for past many weeks."

"Then try standing in my shoes, I've hidden this for years." He said as he pulled me into an embrace.

Who knew he had such warm feelings.

Never had I ever thought in my wildest dreams, that Alhaitham and I could be a thing. Perhaps Kaveh knew this which is why realization hit me a few days ago due to his question and now I stand before the man, accepting my feelings for him.

I cried and shed tears for him because I loved him. I didn't want to lose the person I loved the most.

I feared losing him because I loved him

I wanted to protect him from whatever lies ahead. He wanted to protect me from what had lied before us.

A feeling of relief washed over the two of us as the tale of two rivals comes to an ending on a positive note as they find out about these unknown feelings towards each other.

A warning before PART-2 would be that the plot would majorly focus on a lot of angst and no good ending. If you are sensitive to reading stuff with tw : Blo0d and Deaths, please do not read further as I'm not responsible.
