There was a sense of serenity in the morning. With the Sun beginning to shine through the blinds illuminating his sleepy face with lines of light. It was quiet, only a couple birds chirping from the windowsill and the sound of the sheets rustling as he shifted onto his side.
Half asleep, Taehyung reached out an arm and it hit an empty bed. His brows furrowed in sleep as he felt around but touched nothing but bedding. Slowly, his eyes opened. The sight of his hand was a little heartbreaking with no one to hold.
Turning onto his back, Taehyung stared at the high ceiling of Suzu's bedroom. Despite not having her in bed at the moment, he couldn't be happier. He was in her apartment where he slept the best sleep he's had in a long time-probably since he last slept beside her. When she crashed at his apartment after a mini panic attack, he didn't get into bed with her even if he really wanted to. He slept on the couch to respect her privacy but this time she invited him into her bed and never told him to leave.
He stretched his muscles, doing a star position before moving to a seated position. He looked around the empty bedroom running his hand over his face to wake himself up better. With a small yawn he finally got up, opened the bedroom door and walked out into the living room.
Suzu didn't even look up to him, eyes glued to the television as she held her phone to ear.
"I'm watching it now," Suzu said to someone on the phone as she picked up the phone and turned the volume up. Taehyung came to sit by her and this time she did look up at him. It was a mistake to let him sleep over but it was too late. The damage was done and now Suzu doesn't know if she'll ever escape him-or if she wanted to. Right now she wasn't focused on him, she was focused on what Namjoon had called her so early in the morning to do.
"This morning, upon arrival to Min's Bar & Restaurant, a tragic incident has occurred. Manager of the bar came in early this morning to open up shop when he discovered a car sitting in the parking lot overnight. The car was still running and upon closer inspection, a woman was seen facing down against the steering wheel. The manager tried opening the door trying to get the woman who appeared to have been sleeping, out of the car."
Suzu was silent as she watched now. Mom's Bar was where Yunha worked and it had her heart racing. Taehyung tried to keep up with her emotions, mirroring them on his own face, anxious to hear the news just like her.
"Officials were called onto the scene and after some success, the car door was pried open and the scene discovered is horrendous. A woman was viciously murdered in the comfort of her own vehicle, locked in and deserted with music still playing in the background. Unfortunately due to the bar's low profile, no security footage had been found but authorities believe it is once again the work of Ghostface. Can we take a moment of silence in prayer to the victim, Choi Yunha, may she rest in peace and her family be consoled."
Suzu's heart stopped at the display on the television. On the screen was the crime scene taped off with yellow caution tape, there was an ambulance, many cop cars, forensics, reporters, Yunha's parents, spectators.
All at once, everything fell apart. Suzu's eyes pooled with tears of agony and Taehyung forced himself to react the same. "This isn't real," Suzu cried into the phone. Taehyung wrapped his arms around her, working up the sound of a real cry as she let him hold her. It made her feel more grounded and more guilty.
Here she was watching the news of one of her good friends being murdered while being consoled by her ex boyfriend who broke her heart. And yet she didn't pull away from him, face in his chest to hide the fact that she was ugly crying.
Namjoon tried talking but he didn't get much out when there were persistent knocks on her door. She looked over to Taehyung who turned away to cry into his hands at the news. She looked to the door as she got up.
Jungkook stood there, worried and confused. Namjoon could hear the commotion, "I'm coming over."
His eyes shifted to Taehyung who looked up at him for a mere second before turning away. The second Jungkook stepped into her apartment, his arms wrapped around her tightly letting her cry against him, "I heard the news and came over. I didn't know Yunha that well but I know she was your friend."
It was strange having Jungkook and Taehyung here but in the moment she was t thinking about them. She wasn't thinking about how Taehyung would feel watching Jungkook hold her, or how Jungkook would feel knowing Taehyung was already here. She let him lead her to the couch where Taehyung is sitting and in no time, both of them cling to her sides.
She stayed like that for a while, letting herself be consoled by the two men in her life who currently gave her the most attention and confusion all at once. Unlike Jungkook who had bothered to knock, the next group didn't.
Jimin was the first to enter, glaring over at the couch where the three looked up. Jia and Namjoon got their way in right after but they all seemed to stop in their tracks.
"You," Jimin pointed a finger at Taehyung, "What did you?"
"What are you talking about?" Taehyung asked through reads as Jimin stood in front of him all while Jungkook rubbed soft circles into Suzu's back. Jia came over with Namjoon as they watched the news for more information.
"You were her ex boyfriend. You are the one obsessed with Suzu. You are the one who broke up with Yunha!" Jimin said making Namjoon look over to Taehyung, "And now you're sitting here trying to get Suzu to lean on you when you're the fucking psycho!"
"You think I'm capable of this?" Taehyung asked as he raised to his feet, "How was I even supposed to do that when I was here all night!"
"What?" Jimin looked at Suzu who avoided his gaze, "Suzu, is that true?"
For a moment she was quiet but the subtle nod of her head Jimin looked disappointed, "So he spent the night? And you had the nerve to tell us there was nothing between you two?"
"There's not! We didn't do anything," Suzu said looking to Jungkook to see how he'd react but he had a stone cold expression. Jia sighed, "Taehyung was here? Be honest Suzu."
"Yes."
"I'm sorry," Suzu cried as she stood to her feet, a need to escape both Taehyung and Jungkook. Namjoon shook his head, "This isn't about Suzu right now, it's about Yunha and her family so stop arguing over stuff that doesn't matter!"
"Guys I'm actually really scared right now," Jia confessed as she looked at everyone, "First Mino then Suzu, then Namjoon and now Yunha? Oh my god, what if one of us is next?"
