02 | yunha's new guy

"Have you tried going to his place?" Jimin asked Suzu the following day as she drove over to Yunha's place. They were supposed to meet up for drinking and the two of them were heading out to pick up Sia.

"No, he sent me a text this morning saying  how he didn't feel good yesterday," Suzu gave a shrug, "He's been texting so it's fine."

Suzu pulled up to the No Parking zone in front of Jia's apartment while Jimin texted her to come out. He looked back to her, "What if he did something bad the night he went out for drinks?"

Suzu thought about it for a moment, would Mino have done something bad? It is strange that it was Friday and she hasn't seen her boyfriend since before he went out for drinks on Wednesday. He did text her this morning but yesterday he hadn't answering her call or text. Did he do something that would upset her?

He's usually like a puppy dog trailing after her doing anything she asks so it's strange to not have him around right now. There's not a day that goes by that he isn't blowing up her phone and yet he hasn't done that.

"Unlock the fucking door," Jia cut into her thoughts juggling the door handle impatiently. Suzu reached for the button to let her in. The topic was dropped and neither Suzu or Jimin brought it back up.

"Yunha says she invited the guy she's seeing," Jia said absentmindedly. Jimin just brushed it off as Suzu drove over to her friend's apartment.

Yunha came later on into the friend group. Mino introduced her to all of them since they went to high school together and soon enough the three girls were hanging out all the time. Of course there's still more things Suzu and Jia know about each other but Yunha is still a close friend.

The three put the code for Yunha's apartment and let themselves up. Jimin stood behind next to Suzu, "So who is this guy?"

"No clue, I thought they were keeping it on the low," Suzu told him as Jia took the lead once they were on the right floor. Jimin nodded, "Does this mean we have to play nice?"

"I hate doing that," Suzu joked making Jimin laugh lightly as Yunha knocked on the door before opening it. Jimin smiled, "Let's leave if he sucks."

"We'll go bother Mino," the two came up with an agreement as the voice of their friend finally pulled them out of conversation. Jimin was just shutting the front door closed as Yunha called out.

"Finally, we've been waiting for forever," Yunha said with a smile as the three finally looked over, "Where's Mino?"

Suzu's smile dropped for a split second, her eyes landing on a pair of dark brown ones. For a second she wasn't sure if she was seeing correctly or if her eyes were simply deceiving her. They weren't, Jia turned to her with the same look and even Jimin seemed uncomfortable now.

"I don't know..." Suzu cleared her throat awkwardly as she began taking her jacket off letting Jimin took it so he can put them away. Jia waited for Suzu as they made their way into the living room with Jimin hot on their trail both taking a seat next to Suzu sticking her in the middle. She avoided looking into the eyes of the stranger.

"Oh right, babe these are my friends," Yunha motioned toward them, "Jimin, Suzu, and Jia."

"Guys this is Taehyung," she said with a bright smile that made the others seem much more uncomfortable. Suzu smiled, "We're late because Jia had to pee before we came."

"Sure did," Jia laughed awkwardly, "Actually no, I had to feed my cat obviously."

"Let's start drinking, I want to get drunk," Jimin chimed in, all of them trying to start a conversation that wouldn't involve Yungha's man and conveniently Suzu's ex boyfriend for the last six months. A smile came to her face from how awkward it was and there was just so much that needed to be talked about but clearly nobody knew what to do.

"Does anyone need water?" Suzu asked standing up abruptly as she rounded the coffee table to head to the kitchen. Yunha's brows furrowed, "Aren't you drinking?"

"She's driving," Jimin explained turning to look at Taehyung with narrowed eyes. The man only smiled as he slid Yungha's leg off his lap, "Yeah, I'm driving too, I guess I should drink water as well."

"Get me a glass babe," Yunha said as Taehyung nodded not looking back to her as he made his way into the kitchen. Suzu looked up in time to catch him turning the corner into the kitchen that was closed off from the living room and tried her best to hurry. It didn't matter though, Taehyung blocked her in before she could make a run for it. Their eyes met as he stood in front of her making her look away, "Excuse me."

"I didn't know you two were friends," he whispered gently, his voice was always too gentle for his personality. She rolled her eyes moving around him, "I doubt that."

Before she could take another step his hand was on her wrist abruptly stopping her. Taehyung shook his head letting his grip soften in fear of hurting her, "Suzu please, I really didn't."

She shook him off leaving him alone in the kitchen as she came out with her drink forcing a smile on her face, "So Yunha, how'd you two meet?"

"He slid into my DMs," Yunha said as if it was the most amazing thing in the world. Taehyung came out shortly after looking more serious than before, "We were just fooling around at first."

"Oh right," she laughed nervously. Jimin tried not to glare at the guy, "Is that why you were keeping it on the low? Or is there other reasons?"

Suzu didn't say anything as she took a seat between her friends again trying to distance herself from her old boyfriend. Was this all really by chance? Suzu knew how meticulous Taehyung, he was smart and always thought things through. She also knew for a fact she was in at least one Instagram post of Yungha's even if she wasn't the front image.

Her eyes met Jia's who looked just as confused as she did. It's because Taehyung was He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.

"Can we watch a movie or something?" Suzu asked despite the strong urge to leave. The main reason she wanted to leave was obviously because of Taehyung but the reason why she stayed is because she was driving. She couldn't just leave on her own and she knew for a fact that Jimin and Jia would leave with her. Then, Yunha would know something was up.

"Let's watch Scream," Taehyung said, "It's fall so we need to watch something scary."

"I hate scary movies," Yunha said pulling on his arm, "You know I get scared easily."

Taehyung shrugged, "But it's not super scary, it's just about a killer."

"Yeah, it's about a guy and his friend who murder his girlfriend," Jia said looking over to Yunha.

"Kinda like the girl who died the other night," Suzu said with a shrug as Yunha started looking for the movie.

"You think it was her boyfriend?" Taehyung asked but she didn't respond more than just another shrug. His jaw clenched, she was barely even acknowledging him and he just wanted to talk to her. How could she not believe that him dating Yunha had nothing to do with her? And it had nothing to do with her.

"Men are psychos," Suzu said with a shrug, "Especially controlling jealous boyfriends."

Taehyung was not controlling, and yet it felt like Suzu was indirecting him. He just cared a lot for her and it hurt that she never seemed to care about him. But it doesn't matter, this wasn't about him and Suzu. This was about the murder of some random college girl he didn't know.
