Jeon Jungkook has never considered himself an intimidating guy. Sure, the ink adorning his skin and the piercings in his face might say otherwise but he's not mean... he just doesn't care to be nice to people who don't mean jack shit to him. So when this Kim Namjoon guy came over to where him and Suzu were supposed to be having lunch at, Jungkook didn't even pretend to be interested in the guy's presence.
"How are you doing?" Namjoon asked sitting down in the empty chair next to Suzu's. He reached for her forearm up looking at the hand. Thankfully, the stitches had dissolve but there was still healing that needed to be done to the scar.
Suzu smiled, "I'm fine, I've been talking to Officer Kim a lot and he's been really helpful, just nice to have someone to talk to."
"What do you talk about?" Jungkook cut in suddenly but his eyes didn't move away from Namjoon. He couldn't stand the guy, he was always interrupting time Jungkook tried spending with her. He doesn't care if they're just friends or not.
"Well, there hasn't been any attacks recently but with the curfew they think Ghostface is laying low for now," Suzu said with a simple shrug of her shoulders. Jungkook nodded in understanding as he forced a smile on his face, "What time do you get off work?"
"10:00pm," Suzu told him. She worked at a restaurant part time and that's the latest it close since they had a bar. Namjoon looked to Jungkook warily. It's clear this guy wanted to get closer to Suzu and he wasn't sure why it was. But something felt off about this guy. Jungkook just seemed so intense and though Namjoon met Suzu through Mino, he still cared about her. He knows she's over Mino and suddenly he's had to move on too since his best friend cut ties with him but he still feels protective over Suzu.
"I'll come over later," Jungkook said with a strained smile, "That way you're not alone tonight."
"What's going on tonight?" Namjoon asked and Jungkook only shrugged. He couldn't get a good read on Jungkook but there was just something off about the guy. Maybe it's just that he didn't know him but there was an aura around Jungkook that made Namjoon question him and his motives.
"It's Friday the 13th, like in the horror movies," Jungkook said with a playful smile, "It's like... the day of unfortunate events."
"We should watch Friday the 13th tonight," Suzu said not noticing the growing tensions. Jungkook nodded, "I love a girl who's into horror."
Namjoon left feeling slightly uneasy but he forced the thought away. He spent most of his evening well into the night on campus.
9:10pm
Namjoon was a pretty studious guy. He still had to get into grad school so he really didn't have time to fuck around. He spent most of his free time in the campus library and that's where he's coming from now.
It was late and dark, most students gone now due to the curfew put in place by the police but he completely forgot about the time. He didn't feel like he'd be a victim anyway so his pace to his bike was steady.
He had one ear bud in listening to music lowly, almost missing the strange sound. His brows furrowed letting his pace slow as he turned to look around. Not hearing it again he kept walking lowering his music as a precaution.
Finally, he was able to hear it clearly. It was like a fork scraping again porcelain. Metal scratching against a hard material.
His pace quickened pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. As long as he looks forward and tries not to draw attention to himself he'll be fine. Maybe it's just paranoia since Suzu got hurt.
He looked up at the ceiling above him, a CCTV camera pointed at him and that's what distracted him. The stupid fucking camera.
His breath hitched as his body crumbled forward in pain. It felt like the air had been knocked out of his lungs and it had. His glasses fell with a crash and as he went to reach for them he felt the same pain shoot through his rib cage knocking him down onto his side.
He looked up, heart stopping at the sight. Ghostface attacked him from behind. He kicked his side and when Namjoon's eyes locked on him he brought his leg back before kicking straight at Namjoon's face. Blood splattered on the cement from the outdoor hallway. The camera focused on them but nothing was happening.
It wasn't that Namjoon was weak, on the contrary, he was quite strong but everything had happened so quickly. Ghostface tilted his head as if expressing curiosity at the bleeding man, Buck 20 at his side hidden in the tight grip of his gloves hand. Namjoon couldn't make them out even if he wanted to. Once Namjoon had gathered enough strength to kneel he swung an arm at the attacker and the person fell.
He moved to get on top as Ghostface reached for his face. In a quick second, Ghostface gripped his bleeding, probably broken nose with the gloved hand and twisted, eliciting an excruciating pain to shoot down Namjoon as he screamed in agony.
"Sch-omebody!" His voice was unclear, too much blood spilling into his mouth making him gurgle. Ghostface was in a time crunch knowing he was on campus and with the grip on Namjoon's broken nose, he shoved the guy off him. Crouching over him as he brought the knife up. Namjoon couldn't do anything, he's pretty sure Ghostface broke a rib when he kicked him. He was going to die.
Ghostface's face remain the same, obviously, the same screaming ghost expression on the mask. The person behind it was so deadly silent. With their free hand, Ghostface tightened it into a fist and swung.
Namjoon's head rolled to the side as the attacker beat his face, the knife angled away from him and all Namjoon could do is try and pull it out of his grip to use it himself.
"Ahh," he cried out as his hand tightened around the blade pulling hard with hope but it was no use. Blood began to drip down his forearm.
Ghostface pushed his hand off the knife watching it drown in Namjoon's blood and then it happened. One stab into Namjoon's side, then another, the-
"Hey!"
Ghostface turned abruptly, the sight of campus security running straight toward him. They pushed against Namjoon's chest leaving the man to bleed out as they left in a sprint. They didn't struggle finding which turns to take, disappearing into the darkness of the night before the middle aged security could catch up.
"Student's been attacked. Call authorities! Now!" The security guard shouted into his walkie talkie as he caught up to Namjoon's lifeless figure. His chest was still moving with jagged breaths and his eyes were still blinking so there was hope.
"Stay with me kid," the security guard said as he checked Namjoon's pulse trying to keep him awake. He looked down both ends of the hall, the attacker completely gone but it matched the description of Ghostface. He couldn't even go after them if he wanted, he had a student close to death right in front of him in the worst condition he's ever seen.
Namjoon's face was beaten and bloody, mouth and teeth covered in blood that dripped down to his ears. He held his hands over the stab wounds trying to get Namjoon to breathe through his mouth since his nose was clearly broken but his mouth was filling with blood.
It didn't take long for the ambulance to arrive and Namjoon was taken on the gurney immediately. He was going to make it but it'd be after intensive care. The part that sucks is that nobody was around and he couldn't contact anyone close to him until he's at least in a more stable condition.
Like with Suzu's attack, the police patrolled the campus on a man hunt but there was no luck. They'd have to go through the cameras but if the attacker was a student then they'd know which paths to take to make sure their identity wasn't discovered when they changed.
