Chapter 3 - My Little Suprise

Ben's apartment

"You keep your apartment surprisingly clean" you said as you finally take a look around the main room of his apartment

The apartment was dimly lit, especially because the sun was just beginning to set leading to a dim orange glow in Ben's old European apartment

"Thanks," "I try" he said with a laugh

"I think I have a suit in your size somewhere in my closet" Ben said as he began to rummage through his fridge searching for more food and drinks for the both of you

"Why would you have a suit in my size" you asked confused

"I have 2 suits, 1 of which I have not re-sized," Ben said "I don't have any particular use for them so I just haven't warn 1 of them, so I have yet to trim it" he explained

"I see" you say nodding your head

You then make your way to Ben's closet in search for the illusive suit while you can hear been getting drinks from his fridge

"Ah ha, found it" you say to yourself as you find a nice black suit and slacks tucked away in the very back of Ben's closet

"Got some drinks for us" you can hear Ben shout from the main room

"Ok" you shout back. You then take the suit and slacks in your arms and make your way back to the main room

"Set them over a chair" Ben says motioning towards his dining room chairs

"Alright," you say putting them both over one of his chairs

"Here," Ben says handing you a beer "relax, I know you're nervous," he says after you take the beer from him "you might not show it, but I can tell your nervous" he reiterates

"Can you blame me, were meeting with basically the whole navy command structure" you say looking back at Ben

"That I cannot," he says "but they're not scary, I've been around them long enough," Ben then held up his beer and said "just enjoy this Fin" motioning his beer towards you

"Cheers" you say clanking your beers together

After taking a swig of the beer Ben holds his up in front of him once again looking at the lightly colored liquid inside the dark stained glass

"I wish we could have another toast with everyone like this" Ben said

"..."

"Fin," Ben said looking you into your eyes "You have to let it go"

"Maybe just for today," you say "I will become the commander to prove my strength, fight for this country, save those whom I couldn't, and to earn money for mother" you say proudly clanking beers with Ben once more before downing the entire thing

"That's what I want to hear more often" Ben said patting your shoulder before downing his as well

You and Ben then get ready for the meeting with naval command and make your way to the tall grey concrete building adorned with flags and emblems. As you get closer to the building you meet up with Laura who was waiting for the both of you

"You two look good and proper for tonight" she said in her black dress that almost touched the sidewalk

"Thank you" you both said although Ben was a bit more ecstatic with his response

"You look wonderful yourself" Ben said

"Hmph," she said turning around towards the HQ building "I am an elegant woman of course" she said smugly
