‘Cause it’s you and me and all of the people
With nothing to do, nothing to prove.
And it’s you and me and all other the people,
And I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off of you.
There’s something about you now
I can’t quite figure out.
Everything you are is beautiful,
Everything you are is right.
‘Cause it’s you and me and all of the people
With nothing to do, nothing to lose.
And it’s you and me and all of the people,
And I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off of
You and me and all of the people
With nothing to do, nothing to prove.
And it’s you and me and all of the people,
And I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off of you.
What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive.”**
As the first song comes to an end and the second song begins, I regretfully have to pull away from my husband. Hehe, husband… We walk hand-in-hand to where our families are seated together, letting each other go so that we can dance with our mothers for the next song. The tradition usually has the father-of-the-bride dancing with the bride, but this is the best we can do under the circumstances.
I smile over my mum’s shoulder at Rayne, making a mental note to thank her for playing and singing the first song for us. Niall and I found out that she could play and sing last summer when we were all staying in Florida, and it took awhile for us to convince her that we actually wanted her to play at our wedding. She made us agree to sneak into her wedding and play a song for her, but according to her that won’t be for another couple of years at the very least.
“Are you alright, Liam?” my mum asks, looking up at me with a worried glance.
“Oh, sorry, I was just caught up in my thoughts. I’m better than alright, mum,” I assure her. The song comes to an end, so I walk my mum back to her table, my eyes scanning the room for my special someone.
“Looking for me?” an oh-so-familiar voice asks at the same time someone taps on my shoulder.
I spin around to find a smirking Niall standing before me. “Maybe,” I drawl, winking at him.
“Well, if you’d rather dance with somebody else…” he trails off.
“Right, because I would totally prefer to dance with someone that isn’t my husband,” I tease, my voice thick with sarcasm.
Niall suddenly goes silent, causing me to start worrying. Then, out of the blue, he leans in and kisses me softly.
“What was that for?” I ask after he pulls away.
“That was the first time you called me that.”
“Called you what? ‘My husband?’”
“Yup! It kind of caught me off guard because I’m not used to hearing it,” Niall replies, “but I like it. It makes me feel all tingly inside.”
I chuckle lightly, wrapping my arms around his waist. His hands tangle themselves in my curls, pulling our heads closer together. I press my lips against his, smiling into our kiss. It lasts only a moment before he pulls away, grinning like a madman.
“So, husband, how about that dance?” he asks.
In response, I grab his hand again, and pull him back onto the dance floor. We end up dancing until we’re dead on our feet, at which point we finally decide that it’s time to go. We say our goodbyes and thank everyone for coming to the wedding before heading to the limo that’s waiting for us in the parking lot.
A short time later, we arrive at the hotel where we’ll be staying for the night. We make our way to our room, joking around and laughing along the way. I stop before unlocking the door, looking over at Niall.
“What is it? Is something wrong?” he queries.
“Just a little nervous is all,” I admit.
“Hey, it’s alright to be nervous,” Niall assures me, squeezing my hand gently. “I’m nervous, too, but I’m also excited. Do you know why that is?”
“Because you’re a hormonal young man?” I suggest, smirking at him.
“Hmm, maybe, but I was gonna say something else,” he retorts.
“Okay, why?”
“Because I’m with you,” he states.
I roll my eyes at how cheesy Niall is being, but I also smile at him.
“Hey, it’s true! I’m glad that I get to be with you tonight and for the rest of my life, okay?”
“I know; I am, too.”
“I love you, LiLi.”
“I love you, too, silly.”
