Topic: Rame. Rame is an adjective meaning something that's chaotic and joyful at the same time. Its origin is Balinese.
Poem Name: Airplane
Word Count: 318
Some people like to pretend,
To pretend that an airplane is a shooting star.
That it will make their wishes come true,
And bring them some joy.
After years of being grounded and feeling that my time flying has come to an end,
I got another chance to fly far,
To soar through the clouds and the sky so blue.
Finally, another adventure to enjoy!
Packing, planning, airports, and flying.
While the reason isn't great, it's good to be back.
Worrying, overthinking, jetlag, and hurrying.
Despite the underlying fear, there's a spark glowing in the black.
Moving through time zones can be quite chaotic,
Throw in the fear for a loved one's safety and it gets doubled.
Add a few delays, and of course some lost luggage.
And hoping against hope that things will be okay.
But after a time, the process feels hypnotic,
There are some fun moments in the times that are troubled.
Silly little events that loosen the emotional baggage,
Something that makes sure you don't regret jumping into the fray.
There's an itty-bitty spark,
Burning so bright with a passion I can't tame.
A pulsing light cutting through the chaos and dark.
That almost invigorating feeling of rame.
Smiling and laughing while waiting for a connecting flight,
Trying new foods and exploring the airport.
Listening to the languages bouncing around while walking through security,
And learning about people while being held for hours in a secure section.
Messy and insane, with drama and fright,
Yet also hilarious and funny, with many a giggle and snort.
Finding joy in order's impurity,
And finding the drops of happiness in the pool of dejection.
If a shooting star can be made of an airplane,
Then our ride on those stars was like a rollercoaster,
With ups and downs, and comfort and pain.
That spark of rame made for a lot of memories being added to the roster.
