PROLOGUE
"Do you remember what happened before you rode the carriage?" he asked.
Umiling ako. Nakababa ang tingin ko pero kita ko ang pagsulat niya sa notes niya.
"How about while you're riding the carriage? Do you remember something? Anything?" muling tanong niya.
Napakagat ako sa ibabang labi, sa muling pagkakataon, umiling ako.
"Well, how about-"
"Can we stop this for today?" pagsingit ng isang boses. Natigilan ang nagtatanong sa 'kin.
May marahang humawak sa balikat ko. "My daughter is not fully recovered yet, I think she's done for today," ani ng babaeng katabi ko.
Napatikhim ang lalaking kaharap namin at napaayos ng upo. "Very well, madam. We'll continue this tomorrow."
Napatingin ako sa katabi ko. She glanced at me with a smile. I know that she's just trying to smile to reassure me.
"Go back to your room and take a rest," sambit niya.
I didn't answer back, I just innocently nodded before standing. Nakasunod sa 'kin ang tingin nila nang lumabas ako sa silid. I closed the 2 doors behind me. As soon as I heard it close, I heaved a sigh.
Followed by an irritated look.
Napakagat ako sa ibabang labi, madilim ang tingin, at hindi maipinta ang mukha.
Why the hell am I here?
Mariin akong napahawak sa noo ko. Nanatiling nakahawak ang isa kong kamay sa pinto na sinara ko. I closed my eyes, overreacting. I can feel my imaginary tears falling down my eyes and the invisible arrow hitting my chest.
I dreamt to be transmigrated to a story to escape reality.
But why. . . why it's not like what I've imagined?
Minulat ko ang mga mata ko. I'll literally die in this story.
There's no crown prince that will save me, a wizard that will turn back time to bring me back to life, a villain that will protect me with his life.
In this story, I will literally live and die as a supporting character.
"Lady Harlotte?"
I snapped back to reality when I heard a voice behind me. Naapayos ako ng tayo at napalingon sa kaniya.
A not so familiar face greeted me. A face that I've only seen in papers and screen. . .
Mabilis kong tinago ang ekspresyon ko, binalik ko ang pagiging maamo kong mukha.
