Sammie's POV

Garnet and I have been dating for a couple months now, and I was finally ready to meet his parents.
It was stressing me out like crazy

I knew they were sweet and everything, but what if they thought I was some kind of puck bunny or something.

I really, truly loved their son for who he was. Not that I didn't think he was handsome, but I had met some crazy hockey moms before, and I was scared this was how she would react.

"You're overthinking, Sammie" I told myself, looking in the mirror.

I brushed my teeth, trying to think of something else.

I heard the front door open.

"Sammie baby, I'm home" Garnet said, still in the entry way.

"I'm here" I shouted from the bathroom.

He came in and hugged me from behind, kissing my neck softly.

"What were you doing" he asked.

"Nothing, how was practice?" I said quickly.

"Baby... I know something's wrong, you can tell me" he looked at me with puppy eyes through the mirror.

I took a deep breath.

"I'm just a little nervous about tonight, that's it" I gave in, sighing.

"Aww. Don't worry, they'll love you" he kissed the top of my head. "My mom is really excited to meet you"

"So am I, then" I smiled nervously.

We were both ready to go, putting our shoes on.

We went outside and I locked the front door.

Garnet was waiting for me next to the car. He opened the door for me.

"Thank you, gentleman" I got in.

"No problem, beautiful" he said, closing the door flashing me his cute smile, leaving me blushing slightly.

He got in the car and put his hand on my thigh.

"You'll be fine" he told me.

"I know" I responded.

When we got there, I was almost shaking from the stress of being here.

"Hey, don't be scared. They don't bite" he said smiling, trying to make me laugh.

I giggled and took his hand in mine.

"Just stay with me and I'll be okay" I pleaded.

"Of course, I won't leave your side" he kissed my hand.

We walked to his parents' front door and he knocked on it.

His mother opened it and welcomed us.

"Hi honey, how was the ride?" she asked his son.

"It was great, mom"

She turned to me and smiled warmly.

"Oh, you must be Sammie. Garnet hasn't stopped talking about you, we're so excited to see you finally!" she hugged me.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs Hathaway"

"None of that, call me Suellen" she smiled again.

Garnet gave me a 'See, that wasn't so bad' look and we followed his mother who led us to the living room where his father was waiting for us.

"This is my husband John. John, Sammie's here" she introduced him.

"Ah, Sammie, it's nice to meet you" he got up and shook my hand.

"It's nice to meet you too, Sir"

"Please, make yourself at home"

"Thank you very much" I felt Garnet put his hand on my back and we sat on the couch, chatting with his father while dinner was being prepared.

"Do you need help with dinner?" I asked his mother.

"Oh, no, thank you sweetheart, dinner's ready" she invited us to the kitchen and we sat at the table.

"That looks absolutely delicious" I complimented.

"Well, thank you, I hope you're going to like my cooking"

"I doubt she won't, everything you cook is amazing, mom" Garnet said, putting his hand on my thigh again, helping me calm down.

Everything was going fine, but I was still a little bit nervous.
We started eating, and the food was indeed really really good.

"So, are you enjoying your time in Washington, DC with Garnet so far?" his father asked me.

"Oh, yes I love it! It's different than my small hometown, but Garnet makes it feel like home for me" I explained, giving a smile to my boyfriend sitting next to me.

"Yeah, he better treat you right" he looked at his son.

"Oh, yes he does. I love him very much" I reassured my boyfriend's father.

"You guys look so cute together" his mother looked at us with awe and what seemed to be admiration.

"Thanks, mom" Garnet said, turning to me. He grabbed my face gently with his free hand, the other one still on my thigh, and kissed me passionately right in front of his parents.

I blushed hard and kissed him back shyly.

His parents didn't say anything, just watched us with smiles on their faces.
