Chapter 3: well, shit

Y/n's POV

Arisu and I were outside the safe zone, still kind of traumatized by what happened. *the tagger, they were a player in the game as well, why else would they look so horrified* i thought. I felt guilty, even though i know it's not my fault. I mean, she was supposed to die, right? so then why do i feel so guilty? I was busy in my thoughts, when usagi suddenly walked out of the safe zone. she looked at me and arisu. Arisu was still kinda shaken up by what happened. "That woman...I killed her." arisu said. usagi then tried to comfort him by saying "everyone was forced to play the game. it wasn't your fault." I then added on to that and said "don't feel bad, you had to do it in order to survive." I then put my arm around him, and brought him closer to me, to simulate a side hug. "what the hell is going on?" we all then stayed silent, before usagi said "who knows? i know i don't. but...it amazes me that i'm willing to do anything just so that i can survive." she then looked back at us "if we didn't want to do that, we might as well just die." she said before walking away, leaving me and arisu to ponder on what she said. 

--------------------------------------Time Skip-----------------------------------------------

 When we got back, we checked on karube's wound, and bandaged it up. He thanked us and said "if we go to that beach place, we might be able to find something." "like where everyone in the city disappeared too?" Shibuki asked. "maybe there's an evacuation shelter. maybe everybody's there." karube replied. '"the closest beaches to us are in shonan, izu, and ito, right?" arisu asked. "so what do we do now? do we  get going" arisu asked. "for now, we trust whoever this is." karube said, with the walkie-talkie in hand. 

*my memory is going hazy, so i should write down everything that's going to happen, while i still can* i thought, completely zoning out what they were saying. *oh wait shit, i need to get the 7 of hearts, but how am i going to do it? i know it'll take place in a botanical garden, so i just need to follow off that.* i thought, and i didn't realize how the others were staring at me until arisu shook me, and asked what was wrong. "oh nothing, i'm just thinking of how we'll be able to find the beach." i said. "we'll just follow what the person on the walkie-talkie says" karube answered. i simply nodded, before saying "i'm gonna go" "where?" chota asked. "i'm gonna go and try to find some food for us." i said. They seemed pleased with that answer. 

-----------------------------------------------Time Skip-------------------------------------

 I had gotten to the botanical garden, and i was slightly nervous. I mean, who wouldn't be though? i'm willingly walking into a hearts game. I crossed the border, and as soon as i did that, i knew i couldn't back out now. I grabbed a phone, put a headset on, and waited for people to come. Luckily, i didn't have to wait long, as a few minutes later, a group of people walked in. they all looked to be high school students, and seemed to be friends with how close they seemed to be with each other. *oh god, this is gonna be bad, i can already tell.* I thought. when they saw me, they seemed kind of shocked. "Hey, look! there's another person here. maybe they know what's going on?" one of them asked. *shit. They're new too, this is gonna make me feel worse than i already am* i thought, not really knowing what to do or say. "let's just asks them, Nemiko" another said. "hey, do you know what's going on?" one of them asked me. they all looked at me, waiting for me to say something. "you're in a death game..." i hesitated, but none the less told them, and i wished i didn't, but their reaction scared me. "a...death game?" the one, who i now know as Nemiko, said. They seemed scared and didn't really know what to make of the situation. I handed them each a phone and instructed them to each put on a headset, and wait. "i'm sorry..." i whispered. The game then explained the rules, and told us the difficulty of it, the game began, i shouted something to get their attention. The wolf role was then passed onto me, and i immediately started running away, while repeatedly saying "i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry"

I hid behind what i could only assume was a boulder, and waited there for a few minutes. During those few minutes, i kept hearing them desperately trying to find me. It got to the 14 minute mark, and that's when i heard something that broke me. "are..are we going to die?" i heard one of the students say, who i later learned was named, Haruka. I heard another one say "i..i don't know" that's when i said "i'm so sorry" "it's okay" Nemiko said. that made me feel even worse, with how forgiving she's being. "just make sure to survive" haruka said, and that was the last thing i heard, before i heard the collars going off. the phone then said congratulation, and told me i can remove the headset. I did and walked back to the entrance. and lo and behold, i saw  the card and 3 dead students. I walked over to it, before lazily picking it up. *well shit* i thought. *all that, and for what* 

*I can't believe i Sacrificed 3 kids, and for what? for a stupid card?*
