"Oh excuse me, do you know if a short grandma who used to knit before is here by any chance?" - Yoohyeon described the grandma with gestures that made the girl giggle but that adorable smile of hers turned into a sad expression.
"You're Yoohyeon, aren't you? Of course I know the woman you're describing, that's my grandma, but I think you're too late. She passed away two years ago."
Yoohyeon was speechless. She immediately apologized and bowed to the girl.
She didn't expect to hear that. How unfortunate really. Yoohyeon bought a small keychain plushie from the store in the form of a bunny to remember the grandma. She named it Ji because it looked like someone she used to know.
"It's me and you now Ji, let's continue remembering more stuff." - She hugged her keychain and made her way around the streets.
She then saw another familiar place - a small restaurant named Polaris. It was the restaurant she visited every weekend with someone, most probably Minji. She got inside and was surprised to see someone she knows - the owner.
"Oh hello there Yoohyeon! We haven't seen eachother in so long I thought you died or something!" - The man jokingly said without actually knowing that Yoohyeon was almost going to be burried, as for Minji, she didn't know why she stopped coming.
"Hey there, I was just visiting old stores I used to go to and I decided to eat dinner here before leaving." - Yoohyeon said, sitting down on the table she used to always sit. It made her smile when she remembered small visions of Minji sitting infront of her.
"I'm so happy you remembered us. But why are you alone, where's your girlfriend?" - The owner said with curiosity in his voice, slowly regretting asking because of Yoohyeon's lost reaction.
"Girlfriend?"
"You two must've broken up, sorry for bringing it up!"
The man bowed 90 degrees to apologize before giving her the menu and running off to serve more people around.
So her suspicions were correct, they were dating before everything happened but why did they broke up? Yoohyeon had so many questions but she pushed them away when a server came to take her order. She ordered tteokbokki and waited for her food.
She examined the whole place. Everything was still the same as it was 3 years ago - the tables, the aesthetic, the workers. She felt as if she's safe here, as if everything is back to how it was but one thing was missing - Minji. She wanted to see her as soon as possible and felt like she was so close to seeing her again, being near her once again and loving the person she longed for.
One thing on the wall caught her attention. It was a wall of polaroid pictures full with people. Her gaze laid on one picture that was right in the middle, decorated with cute stickers of rabbits and puppies and a single clover. The clover looked exactly like the one she has tattooed on her arm. Yoohyeon got up from her seat and went to the wall to look at the picture - it was her and Minji. She tried to hold in her tears and somehow managed to do it. The server saw her staring at the picture and went to confront the girl.
"I know you probably miss her Yoohyeon, Minji is an amazing girl and your love for eachother was something we all admired." - He patted her back before leaving her.
