(A/N: I've been thinking about actually putting my tumblr account to use, should I post my stories on there as well? Also I apologize for slow updates, I find it hard to write romance anymore (not to mention I'm now used to third person...) and I also fell out of Overwatch for a bit, but I'm currently hyper-fixated on Kiriko so maybe there'll be more frequent updates?)

(Fluff)

To say your relationship with Kiriko was perfectly normal would be a bit of a stretch from the truth. You seemed to catch each other's gaze a little too often, seemed to linger touches for a little too long, and got a little too physically close whenever possible. When sitting next to her, her arm would be wrapped a bit too low around your waist, and the same went for when the roles were switched. When you held her hand in a crowded environment your grip was a little too strong and she held on for a little too long.
Genji had introduced her to you, and she hadn't been a total stranger before that point. You were good friends with the cyborg, usually training together as you two faired well in battle together. That being said, you knew stories of his past, and that included some stories here and there of Kiriko, and you had seen a few photos from their youth. With the Hashimoto presumably gone from Kanezaka, Genji had invited her to stay at the headquarters for a while.
You expected you'd get along well with her since you got along with Genji, but you hadn't expected to get along with her as well as you had. She had ended up staying longer than originally planned, spending a majority of her time with you. Genji himself seemed a bit surprised by the click between the two of you as well. Even after Kiriko had left, she had spammed your phone with texts every day, and you had done the same more or less.
Kiriko visited often when she could, usually surprising you with a hug and a small gift which was usually a snack she wanted you to try. She started staying in your room when she came over, leaving her scent on your blankets when she'd leave again. Genji would sometimes bring up how it seemed strange, but he wasn't against it in any sense.
"You're not a very touchy person, usually?" He questioned while holding the training dummy still from behind it so you could practice some physical endurance.
"Usually. Not never. I just have that connection with some people." It wasn't a total lie, but you knew you only liked to be touchy with people you were romantically interested in, and not once had you denied to yourself that you weren't against the idea of being with Kiriko.
"You two are good friends, very quickly too. Just don't replace me." Genji teased, poking fun at the connection you had with who he practically considered a little sister.
Kiriko had stopped in to visit for a few weeks just after the new year, however this time giving you a heads up. That meant that you were able to greet her by the doors with Genji when she arrived. He faked being hurt at the fact that she ran to you first, giving you a tight hug in greeting. The night of her arrival you found yourself in your room with her while the TV played a movie the two of you randomly decided on, even if neither of you were paying attention. She was swaddled in your fluffy blanket, sitting up with her legs crossed, practically infecting the fabric with her natural scent.
She was telling you stories from the festival back in Kanezaka for the new year, and invited you for the next festival to be hosted, claiming she wanted you to put in some work to visit her for a change, though it was a lighthearted joke. Still, you promised yourself you'd pop in and surprise her sometime when you had the chance.
It wasn't unusual for Kiriko to fall asleep on your bed with you, usually her head on your shoulder and one or both of her arms linked with one of yours, but lately though the week she had slept fully curled into you, but you received it gratefully, holding her closely despite the fact that the beat of your heart may wake her.
During the day while you'd be more focused and awake is when it would affect you the most. You could cuddle with Kiriko at night and be relatively okay because you were tired and couldn't fully comprehend just how close she really was. But she would sit on your lap on the couch and you wouldn't be able to breathe, not because she was squishing you but because she was right there.
She had been messing with your hair to try and trim it a bit for you. She was talking but you hadn't heard a word she had said, too focused on her fingers brushing against the nape of your neck here and there. Clearly the two of you had been getting closer, and before you simply just didn't mind the possibility of dating her, but at this point you had let your emotions get strong enough and you yearned for her while at the same time wanting to get her away.
Maybe if she was too close she'd feel your pulse through your chest, or see the tenseness in your muscles, or hear the hitch in your breath.
"I can't just take a two week break from my routine because you're here." You said in response to Kiriko's pitiful protests at your solo training session. She had woken up by herself, much to her displeasure, and decided to find you and give you an earful about it. Normally you waiting until she went off to bother Genji to do your routine, but she was so close when you had woken up that your chest physically hurt at the notion that she wasn't yours.
"Yeah but I woke up by myself, and that's just rude of you." She huffed, sitting on one of the benches and begrudgingly kicking her feet. The room went quiet besides the sounds of your heavy breathing and the contact between your gloves and the punching bag. "Are you almost done?" She spoke up again when she noticed you were slowing down to a stop, leaning your head against the bag to regain your breath. You only nodded instead of speaking.
Kiriko took the act as a sign to get up with the towel and water, heading over to you. She gave you the towel to wipe the thin layer of sweat from your forehead and waited until after to hand you the bottle of water. You hadn't been at it for too long, fearing it would be a little too rude to disregard Kiriko for so long while she was staying to visit. But that at least meant you weren't too sweaty and gross, even if you'd still need to shower regardless for the day.
You caught glimpse of Kiriko's gaze laying awkwardly off to the side as you tried to rehydrate, something odd in her usual behavior towards you. To start, you simply reached out to lightly poke her shoulder, shaking her from her trance quite quickly, but still you only earned an odd smile as she took the bottle back from you when you had finished. "Are you alright? Tired?" The two of you had gone to sleep rather late, as per usual when she'd stay with you, but she was up earlier than normal as well. At first she started to agree, but you watched as she hesitated. It had been a lie that she was now second guessing. "Is everything okay?" You ask again, a bit more cautiously this time.
Kiriko only met your eyes for a brief moment before focusing on nothing behind you with a nervous laugh to mask whatever it was she was portraying. "I am tired. But because I woke up since I was cold, because you weren't there. And since you were gone I," She paused, wincing when she finally forced herself to look at you. "I spent quite a while practicing in front of the mirror how to ask you out." She spoke quickly but clearly, her facial expression showing uncertainty.
"It didn't work?" You felt stupid asking, but no other words came to your mind, your thoughts overpowered by the beating in your ears. Kiriko didn't seem very taken back however, simply biting back a grin and shaking her head 'no'. "Oh, well, I guess then I can admit that the multiple times I've confessed to you in my head hasn't helped me at all either." You commented sheepishly, though it pulled a soft laugh from Kiriko before she stepped forward to pull you in for a tighter than normal hug. Clearly she did not mind the fact that you had just finished a mini workout.
"Maybe if you come visit me for once," She paused to hear your mocking scoff, hiding her grin in the base of your neck. "I'll take you to one of those festivals I've been telling about and we can call that a date?" She removed her face from your body to judge your reaction, scrunching her nose a bit when you pressed your forehead to hers.
"Okay, but I can also take you to get lunch today as well so we don't have to wait that long."
"You better not make me wait very long." She snapped back, with a taunting smirk, her nose just barely brushing against your own, making you bite back a smug smile.
"I'll try my best." It fell quiet between the two of you, though the silence was quiet as Kiriko carefully looked over your face, her gaze lingering just a little too long on your lips and your eyes. It felt so natural how the two of you seemed to start leaning into each other, you felt her lips just brush yours when the doors the practice range opened, the both of you quickly jumping back from each other.
You caught glimpse as Genji paused after just shutting the doors behind him, a confused look on his face as the front of his helmet rested in his hands. "Hello?" He greeted, his eyes shifting between you and Kiriko.
"I was just spotting for her." Kiriko explained, handing the bottle of water back to you before she started to head out, only looking at you to give a knowing grin before she passed by Genji, bidding him a proper farewell. Genji made his way further into the room while keeping a watchful eye on you, only speaking when he stopped before you.
"Is everything alright?" He questioned, seeming unaware of what he had actually walked into.
"Yeah, I'm fine." You replied, keeping an eye on him as you took another sip of the water. Genji gave half a nod, looking down to your workout attire as he leaned in ever so slightly. You leaned back with a raised brow, silently questioning his antics before his eyes raised up to your own, a mock bored look behind his gaze.
     "Go shower, you smell..."
