I promise

"I don't want to talk to you."

She frowned, "B, please? Just five minutes."

I shake my head knowing Jordy isn't even aware of her presence at my house, "No, definitely not right now."

"We can stand outside and talk? I just... please?" her frown grows deeper as her voice comes out weak.

I stare at her for a moment, silently contemplating it. It would help to get it over with, besides Jordy wouldn't care as long as it's kept appropriate. I'd just tell her later.

"Fine."

Earlier that day.

"And you're sure you're ready to go back?" Jordy asks with a stern expression.

I nod as I roll my suitcase to their front door. It's officially been a week since I've been staying at Jordy and Journee's house with no sign of Rowan, I think I can finally go home. "Yes, I'm sure."

Jordy sighs as she grabs her keys, "Okay."

"Don't forget our secret Santa party tonight!" Journee calls from the kitchen.

I chuckle. "I won't!"

The drive to my house was quick and exciting, although, I noticed Jordy was slightly nervous. However, I felt excited to see my mom, sleep in my old room, and eat all the baked treats that my mom always made so perfectly.

Arriving at my house, my mom greeted us both with love and strawberry danishes, which were perfectly soft and sweet. Jordy ended up hanging out with me all day just to assure that I settled in comfortably and felt at ease. When the evening came, she had to head back to her place to get ready while I got ready at mine, planning to drive over to her house after. Something I also missed, driving.

I got dressed in a long sleeve red dress that stopped at my mid-thigh with white fur lining the end of it. My makeup was natural while my hair remained down with a Santa hat matching my dress perfectly. I pulled a white jacket on along with my white calf-high booties before exiting my room. I grabbed the present I had for Eva, who I got for secret Santa, and the one for Jordy which I'd give to her later.

The house was coated with quietness due to my mom being away at a holiday party for work, but she still left me a festively decorated brownie that she'd made for the party. I smiled at the treat, but my smile was quickly wiped from my face when I heard the doorbell echo throughout the large house. My stomach twisted into a giant knot as I carefully set the presents on the counter and answered the door.

I grew nervous at the sight of her. My mouth running dry, my hands trembling, and my breathing growing shallow. Rowan.

"What... what are you doing here?" I shake my head as I take a step back from the door. She looked just how she did back then, except her style matured along with her features. Her blonde hair was slicked into a low bun as she wore a maroon button-up with black pants and matching dress shoes. Her black trench coat covered most of her outfit while her face remained bare and clean.

Rowan smiled softly at the sight of me. "Hey, B." she greeted. "Love the festive outfit."

I blink a few times registering her presence causing her to purse her lips.

"Look I know this is a little much, and I know you don't want to talk to me—"

"So why don't you leave me alone?" I cut her off coldly with narrowed eyes.

Rowan's expression grows sad, "I just... I really need to talk to you."

"I don't want to talk to you."
