"Jason!" I try to run after him but someone grabs my arm.

"Alice, don't." Kyle breathes.

I try to shake him off but he's too strong. "This is your fault!" I spat at him. "If you hadn't have come he wouldn't have gotten so upset."

"Alice." He sighs. "It's in his nature, that monster you just saw, that's the real him. The person you 'thought' you knew was just an illusion to fool you mortals."

This isn't me, I don't want to be like this. I suddenly hear Jason's voice in my head. I can't hurt her. Help me, someone help me please. My heart hammers in my chest.

"Jason!" I scream, tearing my arm from Kyle's grip I run off after the voice. I barely even notice the blood on my arm from where Kyle's nails cut into my arm. "Jason!" I scream. I'm outside, the cold wind rushing on my face. I run towards where the voice keeps begging, Someone help me, please help me. "Jason! I love you." I cry out chasing after the voice. Alice? The voice is sharp and it pierces my ears. I finally spot him, he's on his knees, his head in his hands. "Jason." I start toward him but he looks up and I stop dead. His eyes, their so red. It feels like there's a burning that starts from the pit of my stomach and makes it's way up my body.

"No!" Jason screams and suddenly the burning subsides. I blink and look up at him. "Alice, you need to go." He gasps as if in pain. "NOW." He adds, rising to his feet. But before I can move he's standing right in front of me. "I thought I told you to run." His smile makes my heart stop. Suddenly, he jerks away and I notice an arrow sticking out of his chest. I gasp but someone pulls me away from him.

"No!" I scream, reaching out toward him. "Jason." I cry out as he falls to his knees, blood spurting out of the hole in his chest.

"It's not going to kill him, idiot." A female voice mutters into my ear. "Seriously, why would I kill my own brother? Now, hold still or I'll have to knock you out." I freeze. "Good, now if I let you go will you be a good girl?" I nod. She lets go of me and I just stand there. I turn to see Abigail standing there. I had met her earlier when that accursed Marissa had come here.

"What did you do to him?" i glance behind me to where Jason lies, motionless.

"I shot him with a wooden arrow. It only knocks us out for a few hours, it doesn't kill us." She put the bow across her back and starts back toward the house.

"But what about all the blood?" I hurry to catch up with her.

She smirks at me. "It's why we faint, because if we lose blood we're likely to faint."

"What about sunlight?" I frown. "It doesn't seem to affect you."

She cackles. "Oh, honey you've been reading too many vampire books." She shakes her head. "Sunlight doesn't affect us because we feed off of animal blood. If we fed off human blood," She shrugs. "Well, that would be a different story."

"Why do you feed off of animal blood?" I ask, then realize how stupid of a question that was. I wouldn't want them to feed off of humans.

She scowls. "Because we're not monsters. We don't want to kill." She sends me a look that I don't understand. "And you almost just ruined all of that for us." I just gaze at her, confused. She sighs. "Jason has always been the good boy. He's never even met a girl that he had any kind of feelings for. The only girl he's actually truly cared about is his sister, Lily. The rest of us, well he cares about us but not the same way he cares for her."
