I lay on the couch, watching Transformers.

"Jace. How do you even stand this crap?" My brother Sebastian sits on the chair, reading one of his history books. Sebastian is such a nerd.

"It's not crap." I glare at him. "This is the best movie ever. Seriously, not only does it have Megan Fox but it has transformers. Their robots that transform into cars.

"I prefer Twilight." Lily lays on her stomach on the carpet with her feet up.

"Of course you do." I scoff. "You've always been such the romantic."

She looks up at me. "Yeah, well you're definitely no romantic. Especially with the way you treated Alice today."

I tense up. Sebastian raises an eyebrow at me, looking up from his book. "The girl you've been obsessed with for the last year? The one who didn't even know you existed until the other night?" He leans forward, grinning. His forgotten book lying on the ground now. "Oh, I'd love to hear this."

"Shut up." I mutter, looking away from him. "I don't want to talk about this."

"He was such a asshole to her." Lily told him the whole story about what happened and I tried to ignore them.

The doorbell rang and I sprang out of my seat, relieved to have something else to do other than relive the worst moment of my life. But when I got to the door I wished that I had just stayed to listen to Lily talk, because, standing there, looking as beautiful as ever was Alice.

"Alice." I breathe, opening the door. Her scent fills my lungs and I'm suddenly very grateful that I just ate. "What are you doing here?"

"No hello?" She raises an eyebrow at me.

"Well, I can't say I'm happy you're here." I let some cold into my voice. She has to realize that we can't be friends, and if hurting her can make that happen then damn it, I have to do it. Even if it kills me.

She stops smiling. "You can quit the crap, Jason. I know the truth."

"What?" That startles me. "What do you mean?"

"I was in the music room today when you and Kyle had you're little 'talk.'" She uses quotation marks in the air.

My heart stops. "You were- what?"

"I was there, Jason. I was hiding with my friends."

"No." I shake my head. "No, you can't-" I swallow. "You know-"

"That you're a vampire? Yes." She takes a deep breath then takes a step forward, placing her hand on my chest. "And I don't care. I really don't care that you're a vampire. I'm-" She bites her lip. "I think I'm falling in-love with you."

"What-" I swallow. "What did you just say?"

"I'm falling in love with you." She takes another step toward me, her chest pressing against my abdomen. She's so close now that I can see that there are flecks of purple in her hazel eyes, too. "It's not the same as it is with Kyle either. I had a little kid crush that just developed over time. I'm not actually in-love with him." But I can hear the hesitancy behind her words. "But- but I have a connection with you. Ever since I met you, you're all I can think about." Oh god, how long have I been imagining this moment. I have been imagining it just like this. I push her back until her back is pressed up against the wall. I swallow. "Jason, I think you're my soul mate." Before I know what's happening I'm leaning down and press my lips against hers. Her lips are soft and sweet. She tastes like girls often do. Like flowers and sweetness. She tastes like love. I pull her closer, wrapping my arms around her waist. She pushes her fingers through my hair, kissing me back. I pull her up into my arms, her legs wrapping around my waist as we continue kissing. Suddenly, my hunger flares and I feel the urge to bite her. I break away, letting her drop to the ground. She sits on the ground, staring up at me, her eyes wide.
