Raindrops
The rain was beginning to lighten up as Bruce Wayne walked alone on the sidewalk of the Gotham Streets.
"I'm sorry Selina, I just couldn't go see a circus tonight, the anniversary of my parents death." Bruce sighed to himself.
"Sure is a lot easier saying it out loud to myself..." He stepped around the corner with his hands in his pockets.
This was it, the alley his parents were murdered in, he had flashbacks that tried to pull him away from the alley but he also had had his intellect pulling him into the alley to challenge his psyche.
Bruce looked ahead when he noticed something, a young man leaned back against the wall while he half slumped to the side. Upon coming closer to the young man he noticed liquor bottles and an smoking pipe laying around soaked by rain, along with the young man.
"What the?!" Bruce gasped noticing the signs of needing help.
The young Roy Harper tried to look up at Bruce but ended up falling to the side as Bruce caught him and held him upright and close before he reached into his pocket pulling out a Bat-comm.
"Alfred, never mind what I said, send me the Batmobile!" Bruce furrowed his brow.
"Change of heart, Master Wayne?" Alfred asked with a tone of i-told-you-so.
"NOW, ALFRED!" Bruce demanded.
"On its way, Sir. Did something important come up?" He asked from the Bat-computer as a vox on the screen showed Bruce's vocal patterns.
"I've got a boy, roughly 15, in an alley. He appears to be suffering from alcohol poisoning judging from the amount of vomit next to him." Bruce informed as he ran back toward the street.
"My lord! I will prepare an infirmary chamber right away, do hurry, Sir." Alfred started as he clicked off the comm.
Bruce was carrying the boy to the mouth of the alley when the Batmobile pulled up before them, the cockpit opened up to reveal two seats which Bruce hurried Roy into.
"Good thing I just got another seat installed." Bruce stated in a hurry.
Momentarily the wheels of the Batmobile were spinning and screeching as it began to take off down the streets.
9 hours later, The Batcave
Roy's eyes slowly winced open as he tried to look around in a disoriented manner.
"It seems someone chose to join us, Master Wayne." Alfred grinned.
Bruce looked over to Alfred who stood nearby Roy, the young man leaned up only a little as he felt a swelling amount of nausea, dizziness and body aches.
"I...where am I?" Roy asked as he felt vomit making its way up his throat.
He leaned over getting sick into a container placed next to him as Alfred looked to Bruce who looked back to Roy.
"You're in the Batcave, you almost died in an alley. You need to rest, your body is being overwhelmed right now." Bruce answered like he was trying to be nice.
"My oh my, placing our trust so early?" Alfred asked Bruce.
"Sorry, the need to puke woke me up. Did you say this is the Batcave?!" He asked before he leaned back and tried to hold the parts of his body that hurt.
"I did, now rest. We'll keep a close eye on you." Bruce responded.
Alfred fiddled with a machine that Roy was hooked up to as Roy tried to look at Bruce.
"If no one else cared...why did...you?" Roy muttered before he drifted back to sleep.
"Sometimes, it only takes one person caring to save a life." Bruce opened his eyes to see Roy already asleep.
Alfred and Bruce looked at each other seriously before looking back to Roy.
"You know I always thought there was something the Batman was missing." He grinned as Bruce looked unamused and walked away.
"I work alone." Bruce muttered.
"Then how do you explain my assisting you on missions via communications, Sir?" Alfred asked with a cheeky tone.
Bruce stopped and looked at him as Alfred smiled standing next to the unconscious boy.
