I unlocked my door and found someone sitting on the couch
"Oh hell no" I mumbled to myself and grabbed the lamp
I walked closer and was about to hit the person when they turned around
"Ahhhhhh" I screamed seeing it's navya
"Oh nandini hi" she said so calmly
"Jesus fuck navya, what are you doing" I said putting the lamp down
"I knew you wouldn't know what to wear so I brought my dress so we can get together" she said
"Ohh that's gonna be fun but please don't sneak up on me like that"
"Haha it was fun looking at you all scared but ya I won't" she said laughing
I fell on the couch and so did she
"What did he say today" she asked
"Oh don't even get me started he was nice first then he was like oh there shouldn't be any mistakes and then he said I'm fired like hello that is impossible cause we have a contract" I explained
"Sometimes I think he is in love with with you or something" she said making me laugh
"Him ahahaha in ahahaha love haha with me ahahaha ya when cars start flying then ya" I laughed
"No im serious girl, he is weird"
"Ya ask your boyfriend about it, he knows that monster for like I don't know a while"
"He only has good things to say about manik"
"Whatever" I mummbled
We watched tv for a bit and then we walked to my room where I fell on the bed while navya dug through my closet.
"Navya rehenai dai na yar, I will wear jeans and a nice top" I said going on my elbows
"Idiot, who wears jeans to a office party"
"I do"
"No, wear this" she said grabbing a beautiful gown
"No yar"
"Nandini shut up and go get ready it's 7"
"Holly fuck, shittt I had to be there 10 minutes ago, manik is gonna kill me" I yelled running into the bathroom taking the dress with me
I put on the dress and some perfume, I didn't even have time to do my hair so I just opened my bun and shook it a bit. I ran out and navya was ready as well so we headed out.
Thankfully the venue wasn't far so we got there by 7:20, I took a deep breath because a lot of people freak me out.
We walked inside and navya spotted cabir right away
"Go to him ill be okay" I said seeing her reluctant
"Are you sure"
"Ya, im sure go" she smiled and walked to cabir
I looked around and spotted a couple I did not wish to see ever, moving my eyes from them I saw manik talking to some clients. i think I made him uncomfortable by staring cause he looked at me and then looked at his watch
Shittt I knew I was in trouble, he glared at me and smiled at the client, his professional smile cause this man rarely has a real smile. He walked towards me and I was about to walk away but his voice caught me
"Don't even try" he said making me stop in my tracks
I turned around and he glared at me but I have to admit he looked dashing
"Manik you look handsome but don't think anything else, im just saying"
"why are you late" he asked
"Woh umm I was getting ready no umm I got home then I watched tv with navya and it slipped my mind na. And I know you said to be here on time but like I am sorry, I didn't do it on purpose it was just that ahhh okay I know I know I am sorry but please don't get gussa here sab dekhengai" I said and his lips curved up a little but then his Resting B Face was back
"I told you to be here on time! Did I not?" He asked
"Yes you did"
"Then why do you never listen to me"
"I am sorry Manik" I said very sincerely and from my heart
"What do I do with your sorry nandini"
"Ill take you out for coffee, please na forgive me. I am sorry" I said and he shook his head like you know how you do with a child when they are stubborn
"Do not be late again"
"Promise" I said smiling
"Hello nandini" I heard the voice I didn't ever wanna hear
I stumbled back a little but I felt a wall behind me
"Hi" I mummbled looking down
"Hello mr Malhotra, this is my wife Disha"
"Good evening mr arora, nice to meet you" Manik said making me realize I was standing so close to him
"Nandini I haven't seen you in forever, where have you been" he girl said
"Im sorry, I have never seen you before but it's nice meeting you mr and mrs arora" I said trying not to hyperventilate
"Why are you pretending nandini"
"Im not" I knew it sounded rude
"Okay then, how is life? Have you found the love of your life yet?" She said laughing and I stumbled a little
"Yes I have" I said and I felt Manik's gaze on me because of course he knows I am a single fucking loser
"Ohh we wanna meet him" she said
"Umm ya of course" I said and I was trying to spot cabir so I can take his help but he was no where
"Where is he nandini" he asked this time and I grabbed onto manik's arm not by choice but because he was standing so close to me
"It's Manik" I blurt out and I kid you not both their faces drained blood
They looked pale as fuck, a sight I enjoy a lot.
I knew Manik had a lot of questions and hell he probably would fire me for Real now but the insecurities and fear I had were nothing compared to being fired
"Hahaha is this a joke nandini" he said
"It is not mr arora" Manik said before I could say anything
My heart froze for a second when I felt his arms around my waist and fro some reason I wasn't uncomfortable. It felt so natural and almost like I have felt this before like it's normal for him to do this.
"Enjoy your evening mr and mrs arora, excuse us please" Manik said
"Of course, nandini lets catch up later" disha said
"I don't mean to be rude but disha lets not pretend like you said prior"
"Oh nandini still the same old naive little girl" harshad said
"Mr aroro watch your words please" Manik said grabbing my hand as he took me outside by the pool where only a number of people were.
"What the fuck was that nandini" he semi screamed at me
I didn't know what to say, I wanted to tell him why I did that but I couldn't. My throat felt like it was closing, I felt dizzy and my head started to spin.
