Reader's POV

After what Batman said about defeating the joker, I started tearing up from anger. I pushed him off me and saw he had a shocked face on,

"(Y-y/n)..."

"YOU'RE ALWAYS ASSUMING THAT WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS BAD!!! HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED WHAT YOU'RE DOING BAD!?!? I DOUBT IT!!! YOU ARE ALWAYS STEREOTYPING OTHERS!! YOU ARE ONLY DOING ALL THIS CAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOUR PARENTS!!"

"Stop it!"

"NO!! YOU ARE ONLY MAD BECAUSE ALL I AM SAYING IS THE TRUTH!!! YOU HAVE NO OTHER REASON BUT THAT!!!"

"I SAID STOP IT!! DONT BRING MY PAST INTO ALL THIS!!! You will never understand (Y/n)... You're life is so much easier."

I scoffed and looked at him,

"Never understand? Well clearly you either never bothered listening to my past or you just forgot when I told you long ago. I lost my mom, dad, and brother the same way you lost your parents. I had no other family to take me in... I was 4 and a half Bruce... You were what? 12? I didn't know I was adopted till I was 12. So don't say my life's been easy. It may be easier physically. You know why? Because I didn't spend my late teenage years fighting crime, and crying and mourning over my parents' death. I got up, and moved on with life."

"Says the one who was depressed for a week when she found out."

"Coming from the one who is still depressed after so many years."

The room fell silent as I wiped my nose and sniffled. My phone started ringing and I started looking around the room. I finally found it in my purse. It was an unknown called but I answered anyway,

"Hello?"

"(Y/n)?"

"J-Joker?? How'd you get my number?"

He started laughing,

"You know, not only normal people have computers!"

"You found my number online?"

He started laughing again which made me start to laugh,

"No I lied. I'm actually down in your apartment lobby holding a gun to the receptionist's head."

I giggled,

"Alright, lemme just change and grab some things. Come up it may take a while."

I heard a gun fire and then the elevator ding,

"Okay, I'm coming up."

"Well, guess I don't have to pay rent anymore! See you soon."

We both hung up and I turned to Bruce who was still there. I glared at him and he walked over to me,

"You're making a mistake of getting involved with him. I don't want to hurt you."

"Then leave him alone."

Bruce sighed in defeat and jumped out the window. I didn't notice Joker knocking at the door. He was talking too,

"One Mississippi... Two Mississippi... Three Mississippi..."

I opened the door and he fell back and laid on the floor looking at me,

"Hi."

"Hi."

He got up and plopped on the couch,

"I smell... *sniff sniff* Men's cologne..."

"Yeah, sorry... My dad was over."

He looked at me and I just nodded. I walked to my room and grabbed a bag. I unzipped the bag and walked over to my closet grabbing some clothes and throwing them backwards into my bag. I noticed I didn't hear it hitting my bag, but just the sound of it hitting something then the floor. I turn around and see the Joker with an unamused facial expression with clothes on his head and shoulders and a bunch of shirts covering his feet. I covered my mouth to restrain myself from laughing, but he didn't seem to think it was funny. I bit my bottom lip,

"Uhm... Are you okay?"

He grabbed me by the shoulders and shoved me to the wall. This actually scared the shit out of me but I remained calm,

"W-What?"

"Never lie to me. Who was here?"

I gulped as I finally realized, he knew I was lying about my dad being here. I sighed as I looked down making my hair fall over my face,

"I'm sorry... I... I didn't mean to lie. I just... I didn't want you to be mad."

Tears started streaming down my cheeks.

Joker's POV

As I noticed tears streaming down her face, I sighed. I gently lifted her head to look at me,

"Who was here darling?"

"Batman... He... He just wanted to check on me."

I nodded my head and loosened my grip on her shoulders. Instead, I pulled her into a hug, and she just sobbed into my jacket. She sniffled then pulled away slightly,

"You smell like candy."

I chuckled. Then an awkward silence fell. I lifted her head once more to look at me,

"(Y/n)...?"

"Yes?"

Her eyes were red and puffy from all the crying she did. I wiped a remaining tear from her face,

"I... I love you."

Her eyes widened as I gently placed a kiss on her lips. I pulled away and stroked her cheek,

"Please, never lie to me."
