IN WAIT OF ECSTASY (COMPLETED)

Chapter 18

After few days, they had preparatory exams. Most of the students didn't take them much seriously but some were pretty serious about them. They checked the seating arrangement according to roll numbers and went in their respective allotted exam halls. Teacher gave them usual instructions and distributed the answer sheets. She wished them all the best and asked to start the exam.

Everyone was concentrating on their exam and there was pin drop silence.  Examiner was taking round in hall making sure no one tried any unfair means.

Random Student: Ma'am extra sheet

Examiner went towards the student. She gave the sheet and continued her round. Suddenly she saw a piece of paper near Avu's bench. She went near and picked it up and saw it was a chit.

Examiner: Stand up

All students looked there as some drama is going on.

Avu: Ma'am...

Examiner: (cuts her) I said. STAND. UP

Avu quitely stood up. Her eyes filled with tears.

Examiner took the sheet and saw her name.

Examiner: Avneet Verma. So Miss Verma you need come to principal office with me because you were cheating

Avu: Ma'am I was not

Examiner: Wo to har koi yahi bolta. Ypu just follow me

Avu: Ma'am please...

Examiner: Do you understand some different language? When I told you come to office. That means come to office. Move

She shouted on her. Avu quitely walked towards door.

Examiner: And rest of you continue your work or you want to be in this girl's place

Everyone looked down and continued their exam. Examiner called someone else in her place and went to principal office. Avu followed silently sobbing looking down. They waited outside the principal office. After sometime, a peon came and asked them to go inside.

Examiner: Good morning ma'am

Princi: Good morning. You here? Everything alright?

Examiner: Well ma'am this girl named Avneet Verma was cheating in today's exam

Princi: This girl?

She asked a bit shocked.

Examiner: Yes ma'am

Princi: Well what exactly she did?

Examiner: Ma'am I found this chit near her desk

She said handing her the chit.

Examiner: And that's her answer sheet

Princi: Well Avneet you are one of our bright students you know and trust me I really don't expect this type of behavior from students like you. This is really shameful to see such intelligent students. Jinse hume itni umeedein hai. Hum sochte hai ye bache hamare college ka naam roshan karenge jab wo ye sab karte hai to bohot hurt hota hai

Outside the news was spread in whole of her class and even her group came to know.

Here Avu was looking down with tears rolling down her eyes.

Princi: Though you are very bright student but we really can't tolerate such an indisciplinary act. So definitely punishment will be there. You will be suspended from college till the final exams ens and you won't be appearing for final exams this year

Avu looked up with red eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Avu: Ma'am mera career barbaad ho jaega. Please let me give exams

She literally begged.

Princi: I am really sorry but I cannot tolerate this inappropriate behavior. That's your punishment you may leave

Avu was sobbing badly by now. When they suddenly heard Abhi's voice.

Abhi: Ma'am may I come in?

Princi: Can't you see I am talking right now?

Abhi: Ma'am please it's urgent

Princi: Look I am also doing a very urgent work

Abhi ignored her and came inside.

Princi: What kind of behavior is this?

Abhi: Ma'am Avneet has not done any cheating

Princi: And how can you say that?

Abhi: Ma'am she is really intelligent girl and she won't use such unfair means in exams

Princi: What proof do you have that she is innocent?

Abhi: Ma'am what proof do you have that she is guilty? And even if she is you are not even giving her chance to say a word. Ma'am please just check CCTV camera once and if she is at fault then you can give any punishment you want. But just check once

Princi thought for moment then nodded.

Princi: Alright

She checked the camera's and it was clear that when teacher went to give extra sheet to a student. Some student threw the chit towards other student but by mistake it felt near Avu's bench and examiner saw it and blamed Avu. Abhi sighed in relief. Avu almost broke into tears seeing the recording. Princi was really embarrassed and she apologized from Avu and gave punishment to students who were actually cheating.

They went out of principal office and Sid and Sum were waiting for them.

Avu: Th...thanks A...bhi

She said stuttering. Abhi looked at her.

Abhi: (shouted) Can't you fight for yourself? How many times will I come and save you? Don't you know how to defend yourself? You are literally good for nothing. Such a useless creature. Can't even speak up. They were pointing finger on your character. They were giving punishment which could destroy your whole career. And you are just standing there crying when you very well know you haven't even done anything. I swear from next time I won't come to save you. I don't give a fuck whatever happens to you

He left from there in anger.
