4. HER TEARS AND FEARS

"I just got back from the store"
Erika said

"This late, dear?"

"Father, it was really hard to find a tricycle."
"Seems like they all went on strike."
She said as she yawned.

"So how was sales today?"
Eugene asked

"It was good father, at least I made profit better than the last time I went."
"I just hope that i save enough before our trip."

   "Don't worry about that, erika, everything would work out just as planned."

  "Ahmm father, where's cassie?"

"Oh dear, she fell asleep waiting for you to get back."
  
     "Okay then, good night father let me go check up on cassie."

    "Good night my daughter, sleep well and sweet dreams."

   "Thank you!"
Erika said and went inside the house

Nicole cried all the way home, she refused to talk to both her mom and dad.
    When they got home, she ran to her room and shut the door.
   
   "Nicole"
Philip went after her and called out
"Please open the door, my princess."

        "No, I won't!"
"Good night Dad"
  She said crying

        Nicole, Philip began
"No matter what you heard today, no matter what happens. Don't forget that we all love you so very much."
    "I, your mom and your grandma and grandpa."
  Philip left for his room after talking.

  The next morning, Philip took nicole out for shopping to cheer her up and lighten up her mood.
  
    She managed to put a smile on her face in order to make her dad not to be sad.
  As they got to the toys store, she asked,
 
   "Dad, Am I really adopted?"

     "Look nicolet," Philip said
"I know the truth is painful but you have to accept it."
   "Yes, you are adopted"
Tears running down her eyes

  "How come dad, I don't understand?"

   "Your birth parents gave you away to Emily, your mom."
  "So we agreed to take you in as our daughter."

      "Dad? "

"Yes darling, what is the matter?"

"I want you to promise me something."

     "And what could that be nicole?"

"I want you to promise me that you and mom would never give me away like my birth parents did."

  "This i promise you, we would never ever."
   "You are my daughter and I love you so much."

    "I love you too dad, so very much."

Philip wiped her tears as they ran to the line to get her some toys.
  So she smiled.

  Emily was so worried that nicole would hate her for being so hard on her all this while now that the truth has been blown out.

  But when Philip and Nicole got back from shopping, nicole ran to her mom and gave her a hug and said
  "I love you so very much mom"

"I love you too darling"
  Emily said and smiled

   "Mother! look over here"

"What's that on your hand cassie?"

"It's my savings, I've been saving up for our trip."

    "That's so nice of you, but you don't have to worry i got this covered."

  "No mother, I insist add mine to yours so that at least it can amount to something."

  "Okay dear"

"Mother, one more thing, I want to go to the store with you, uncle austin and Grandpa eugene."

    "No cassie, you can't"
"That place is crowded and it's not for children."

      "OMG mother, did you just say I'm a child?"

   "First of all" Erika said
"You are my child, my baby girl to top it all."
     "Secondly, what's OMG?"

"Mother, OMG simply means oh my God and I'm no longer a child."
    "I'll be turning nine soon."

"Okay, enough of the argument you two"
       Eugene said
"Let her just go with us dear."

  "Okay, father if you say so!"
They all left for the store

    "Cynthia, Cynthia!"
"Oh my goodness, what kind of a girl is this?"
   Emily shouted

"Yes ma'am, I'm sorry"

  "Of course you should be!"
Emily said and asked
    "Where's Nicole?"

"She's out in the garden with Nathan and Calvin."

   "Oh, so they are here already?"
"Prepare the table for our gathering."

  "Yes ma'am"
  
   Emily went upstairs to get changed in order to welcome her guest (Nathaniel's and Calvin's parents)

   "Have you guys heard?"
