Chapter 10: First day of work

Y/N's POV

Today is your first day of work. 

When you arrive at the reception, you are greeted and directed to the makeup studio where you meet the other makeup artists/stylists and two other new recruits just like you. After some introductions you get straight to work.

Your first assignment is to help with the concept development for EXO's new album. As a test for each of the new recruits, you are each assigned to design the concept for one member. And of course fate has a way of playing games with you, you get assigned Chanyeol.

As you stare at his picture to think about what his makeup should look like, you can't help but wonder how he is doing. You have not heard from him since that day one year ago. As Kyungsoo encouraged, you texted him that day after the concert but never got a response. You tried texting him throughout the following month. But still no response from him. He probably hates me and never want anything to do with me ever again you thought...

One of the other new recruits, Ella, looks over and asks you how you are doing and awaken you from your thoughts. "Y/N, are you stuck? You haven't drawn down anything yet."

"Ohh, I was just thinking in my head..."

"You should hurry, we only have 15 minutes left."

You finally get started on your design and the two of you discuss some ideas and get the design done.

"Ok, times up everyone." says the head stylist, Ray

As if right on cue, there is a knock at the door and a group of very handsome boys enter the room.

"Good morning team. Oh wow, it looks like we have a few new faces." Suho comes in and greets everyone.

"Yes, we're finally back at full capacity. Just in time for your comeback." Responds Ray. "Let me introduce them, we have Chris, Ella, and..."

"Y/N! You made it!" Baekhyun suddenly barges through the group to the front and embraces you in a hug.

"What? Y/N? Omg long time no see. What are you doing here?" Another loud voice appears from the crowd, which you immediately recognize to be Chen. "Wait Baek, did you know she was going to be here? Is that why you were so hyper since morning?"

"Haha, long time no see boys." You greet them, giggling as you really miss their energy.

"You guys know each other?" Ray interrupts.

"Yea, we met in Tokyo after a CBX concert. She's our big fan." Baek replies, and earned a nudge in the stomach from you. 

"Oh wait, you're THAT Y/N?" asks Sehun.

You and the rest of the stylists look confused at him, but the rest of the EXO members seem to know exactly what he meant by "THAT" and turns to look at a person hiding at the back of the pack, Chanyeol.

Trying to avoid the attention, Chanyeol looks at his phone.

Kyungsoo speaks up to avoid any awkwardness, "Aren't we here to try out the looks for our comeback? We need to get it done and get back to practice." 

"Oh right. Let's get on it then Ray?" Suho echos.

Ray begins his presentation about the concept for this comeback (A/N: imagine their obsession comeback, just with the full EXO 8 still). "So this is the concept, and we will be trying out each of your looks today. As we have 4 stylists today, we will split into 2 groups."

"Pick me pick me! I want to go first" Both Baekhyun and Sehun shouts in unison.

"Hey, calm down, whats the hurry you'll get your turn." Suho tries to calm the kids.

"I want to catch up with Y/N." explains Baekhyun.

"Me too! I want to stay and learn more about Y/N" Sehun whines.

"Oh good idea, then me too" Kai jumps in as well.

"Wow, Y/N seems to be a popular one. Glad we hired you" Ray winks, but gets back to business, "This is how we are going to do it this time. Since we have new joiners, we let them design the concept for one member each to test them a bit, so we we will start with those members. Suho is with me, Baekhyun with Ella, Sehun with Chris, and Chanyeol with Y/N."

"Yay" Baekhyun and Sehun high five each other and get into their makeup chair.

"Hey Yeollie come on." Suho drags Chanyeol by the arm. You can see Chanyeol roll his eyes as he sits down in front of you.

A year after that night, you finally see him in person again. Your heart suddenly started racing just starring at his once familiar face. You take a deep breadth and greet him, "Hi Chanyeol. Long time no see."

He doesn't say anything and continues to be on his phone.

Although this was kind of what you had expected based on his lack of response when you tried to text or call him this past year, you couldn't help be still feel disappointed.

You let out a sigh to release your emotions and get to work. As you worked, you start catching up with Baekhyun and answer all the weird questions Sehun had to you, Suho and the other stylists joined in on the conversation as well. But one person remained silent the entire time.

You couldn't help but look at Chanyeol from time to time, trying to read his thoughts or get his attention away from his phone even for just one moment. But you did not succeed. You wonder if your presence makes him feel very uncomfortable as you notice that his expression keeps getting more serious and maybe even frowning at certain points in time.

Timeskip 

After everyone is done with the styling, Ray comes around to take a look and asks each member what they think. Each member gave their opinion on any changes they wished to see.

When it was Chanyeol's turn, he finally looks up in the mirror at your work.

"It's fine." He simply says.

"It's not just fine Yeollie, its so cool. It matches you and the concept so well." Baekhyun comments.

Sehun jumps in, "Especially with your angry expression right now."

"I'm not angry" Chanyeol quickly defends.

"Well whatever your expression is right now bro." Sehun says backing off with his two hands held up as if surrendering, making Baekhyun laugh, which somehow made Chanyeol frown even more.

"Alright boys, stop fooling around." Ray calms the boys down. "But I would have to agree, Chanyeol's look is on point. Great job Y/N."

 "Thank you" you respond.  Although you got so many praises you couldn't help but feel sad as your thoughts are all over how angry Chanyeol is with you and ignored you the entire time.
