Mr. Khatri stepped outside of the station to send off the DSP and all the other authorities. They reprimanded him for his behaviour. Listening to those threatening tones and warnings, he felt more angered. His hatred for Syna now knew no bounds. He knew he had lost his dominance in front of his juniors.

'People get what they deserve.' Akash taunted Mr. Khatri, who turned around instantly. He was fine with all the mockings; it was child-play for him.

'You think you'll get away with this?' He sniggered. 'Even if you do, your dear friend there will be in trouble for letting a stranger know about what the department was up to.'

'Well, according to my experience, I believe that Syna will have it all sorted.' Mr. Khatri rolled his neck.

   'You believe in her?'

'Maybe more than myself. Belief is very important to an individual.' Mr. Khatri laughed in response and looked at Akash amusingly.

'I prefer believing in myself, that has got me this far.'

'But that has got you nowhere, hasn't it?' Akash mocked him, Mr. Khatri stared blankly at him.

'The real reason you were transferred from Mumbai was because you were a drug lord, weren't you?' Sweat started flowing through his body, but Mr. Khatri covered it with his smile.

'Your monopoly was successful. But even after your transfer to Shimla, you are still carrying out your drug activities, in here as well as in Mumbai. What do you think you are doing? Trying to build an empire like Pablo Escobar?'

'Heh. I'm a faraway echo from Escobar.' Mr. Khatri chuckled. 'But here's something he and I have in common, we both don't fancy the prison.'

'An ounce of proof and I'll make sure you end up in prison, not in La Catedral. It'll be a real one.' Akash challenged him, enjoying the scorned face of Mr. Khatri. He then began walking away from him.

'One day.' Mr. Khatri called him. 'One day, if you can get me behind bars, I'll tell you a little secret about David's father and your cousin, David.'

Siddharth Agrawal patiently listened to everything Syna had to say. She filled him in with every detail of the case. Siddharth kept nodding in response, he was a good listener.

'I see. But when exactly were you planning to inform me about The Stalker and your communication with him?' Syna was red with embarrassment.

'I intended to. I was about to call you when the DSP interrupted me.'

'Your department is against you, not a good sign for someone who has high ambitions. Only rookies aren't respected, make sure you don't end up like that.' Siddharth sneered at Syna, who gaped at him.

'I agree. If you hadn't shown up, I would have been in trouble. But how did you find out that I was actually dealing with The Stalker?' She asked curiously, Siddharth and his junior chuckled at her.

'It was simple. There was a mass-murder in your area, news reporters and journalists revealed it was similar to that of The Stalker's methods, and then I get a call from you to prepare a document for interrogating Abort Hazer, one of his accomplices. It was easy to join the dots.' Siddharth explained.

'I'd expect nothing less from you, too. I'm really grateful that you played that small drama.' Syna thanked him. 'But what are you going to do about Mark Hallows? And do you think we should inform the media about it?' Siddharth stood up from his chair and stared outside the window, his hands in his pockets.

'The CBI will interrogate him, there's no mistake about it. Although he might have been drugged by now, so I doubt he'll remember anything.' He inhaled slowly. 'As for the information, it cannot be held as confidential anymore, so it has to go public by tomorrow. You have good contacts with the reporters, right?'

'Yeah. I do.' Syna rolled her eyes, thinking about Catherine.

'Good. One more thing, you are suspended temporarily.' Syna huffed promptly.

'What do you mean suspended?' she complained.

'Do not talk back.' Siddharth grunted. 'It's far less than what your actions deserve.' And Syna had to agree with that, she had made a lot of mistakes in this case.

'So, sir, what's our next move?' The junior spoke.

'Tomorrow, his reign will be known to all, once again.'

It's easy to end things once they start, as even death is determined even before you are born. But what's unexpected is a comeback, for it ciphers the end of dawn.
