Prologue

Dear Reader,

Before you begin, I should probably warn you; if you are here to read about a perfectly magic world with elves, dragons, and fairies, and a simply enchanting love story, then I am enthused to say that this is not the book for you.

While this novel will most certainly contain enchanting, long-forgotten creatures alike, I am sure there are plenty of other sappier, pitch-perfect fantasy love stories out there that may spike your interest if you so desire. 

But, if you are interested in twisted novels filled with unexplainable events and cursed forbidden magic, then perhaps you are in the right place after all, and thus; I urge you to stay.

Now typically, time is something we consider to be dependable. It's a constant and fixed construct that no one can change, and it never lets us down. It's there to wake you up every morning or end a boring and tedious day of school. But it's also there to give us the experience of aging and eventually bring an end to our life. Simple and unchangeable things which everyone must accept.

But what if it wasn't fixed? What if history wasn't what we thought it was, simply because we lived a different story? The world will tell you it's impossible and inconceivable, but that's only because that's what we've been taught to think. We might think our timeline is fixed and that nothing can prove it otherwise, but a reasonable explanation might easily disprove that.

...but (of course) that's only if you're willing to accept it.

Imagine you... living your perfectly normal life (or perhaps not so normal), but considering the possibility that your entire existence could be a terrible lie, or that there's merely a fraction of your past that happened but you could never actually remember it.

Now, I'm not talking about the days of your early life when you were below 2 years of age and could never remember a thing, I'm talking about a history that you clearly lived... but have absolutely no proof to show that it ever occurred. 

An entire life could be lost and forgotten by simply flicking a switch and changing the past... or even the future.

When you wield the power of time, you have the ability to change and manipulate an entire history and (if you wanted) make it appear as though it never happened. You could twist a dream into a nightmare or reverse the effects of a devastating, life-changing event and not a single person would be aware of it. Only you. Only your brain and the misty memories of a life you destroyed in order to rebuild a new one.

After a while, those memories would almost feel like a dream and then eventually be completely lost from the timeline as a new story unfolds. But obviously, there's no way of proving that this ridiculous fantasy is even believable as it would be impossible for us to fabricate the mere concept in our tiny little minds.

But putting aside our doubts, there's always room for learning... even if you have to imagine that it's true first.
