Chapter 22

The next day Leni sent a message to Risa.

From Leni
Good morning

From Risa
Good morning. How did the talk go?

From Leni
I don't know yet

From Risa
Can I call?

From Leni
Of course. Kung hindi ka busy.

After a few seconds Risa called.

"Hello?"

"Hi" the senator tried to sound normal "are you busy today?"

"Not really, half day lang kame today and this afternoon I'm going to run a few errands"

Risa nodded even if Leni could not see her.

"So you're okay? Not scared anymore?" She reluctantly asked

Leni chuckled

"Yes po senator, hindi na ako bata no, I can handle this and I'm thankful naman sakanila dahil alam kong they're trying talaga for me. I just need to give them some more time and maybe put more effort? But I'm done being scared" Leni said with confidence

Risa smiled. The fact that Leni was doing this for her made her heart swell with happiness

"Well if you get scared again sabihin mo lang sakin" Risa said

"Why? You're going to beat the monster?" Leni joked

"No, hindi ko na kaya ang ganon, matanda narin tayo para sa mga ganyan klaseng laban. Pero I can hold your hand. I can be strong for you if you need me" she said

Leni had to take a deep breath to calm her heart

*baka kailangan ko narin magpa check up* she said to herself and smiled

"Do you think we have a chance?" Risa asked

"I hope so. Nag aalala lang ako kay Trish kase sya yung pinaka against it at sya rin yung pinaka close sa dad nya dati kaya I get it naman, she told me she'd try pero I hope she doesn't force herself" she told Risa

"I understand. Ako din naman mas gusto ko na accept nila tayo with their whole heart rather than doing it just because we want to"

Leni bit her lip and closed her eyes.

*Tayo. I like the sound of it*

"Hello? You there?" Risa asked after Leni had gone silent for a few seconds

"Yes. Pero Ris, maybe we're going too fast with this?" Leni said

"What do you mean?"

"We still don't know kung anong sasabihin nila. But this. The fact that we're enjoying this too much may go against us if... you know" Leni said

Risa sighed. She knew Leni was right. They still didn't know what was going to happen but enjoying little moments like this could just bring more pain to them in the future.

"So what do we do?" Risa asked

"How about a pact" Leni suggested

"A pact?"

"Yes, until we are sure about this we can't do sweet talks " she said

Risa nodded. She didn't want to but it was for their own good

"Okay. Simple conversations lang. But no ignoring each other please"

"Promise" Leni agreed

"Also we can't see each other, unless our kids are all okay with this" Risa said
