Blair watched as the Queen dragged Merdius into the tapestry room. She could tell Elinor was beyond furious with her son. She didn't know whether to be involved or to just head to her room. Honestly, this was a personal matter for them. Merdius broke tradition which would anger all of the clan leaders.

The young girl let out a sigh as she heard the Queen yelling on the other side. 'Poor Merdius' she thought to herself. She felt bad for him. Being forced into marriage and then getting scolded at for trying to do his own thing.

The young girl hesitated before she placed her ear against the wooden door. She couldn't help from listening in. "I don't believe you! I've just have had enough!" The Queen yelled, furious.

"You're the one that wants me to..." he grumbled, Blair could hear his footsteps, meaning he was pacing around the room. If only the Queen would listen and care for her sons feelings, this wouldn't have happen.

"You just embarrassed them!" The Queen shouted. "You embarrassed me!"

"I followed the rules!" She heard Merdius yell. This was true, the first born of every clan could play in the game.

She heard a sigh coming from the Queen. "You don't know what you've done!" Before Blair could realize, the door swung up almost making her fall. But she caught herself. The Queen was stunned to see her listening in on them.

"S-sorry my lady." Blair said softly, her head falling in shame. A blush crept across her cheeks from being caught.

The Queen gave her a small smile. "It's okay dear. You can come in." She said, gesturing for the girl to enter.

Merdius sighed, running his fingers through his curly hair.  "I don't care.." he started. He turned and noticed Blair, giving her an apologetic smile.

Elinor shot him a glare. "There'll be fire and sword if it's not set right." She spat, disappointed in her son.

Blair couldn't take it anymore. This wasn't right, the Queen should listen and respect her sons wishes. He doesn't want to get married, at least not yet. It wasn't her place to say anything but she couldn't stand their arguing. "Just listen to him!" She snapped, swallowing thickly at the glare the Queen gave her.

Merdius gave the young girl a thankful look but once he noticed his mothers expression, he knew she'll get an earful.

"Young lady-" the Queen spat. "You don't have the right to say anything. You're opinion doesn't matter here. You've only been here for 2 days!" Her eyes narrowed as she placed her hands against her hips. "I am the Queen! He will listen to me! And you-" she pointed her finger at the young girl. She would regret saying this later but right now, she was beyond angry. "You do not belong in this family!"

Blair frowned deeply at those words. They hit her like a dozen knives in her chest. Tears brimmed at her eyes, slowly falling down her cheeks. Yes, she hasn't been there long but she loved it here. Loved it with them. She hung her head low before running out of the room and the castle.

Merdius raged at his mothers words. "You have no right to yell at her like that! She was only trying to help me." He yelled, his face red with anger. "You were never there for me. This whole marriage is what you want. Do you ever bother to ask what I want? No! You walk around telling me what to do and what not to do! Trying to make me be like you!" He scoffed, letting out a chuckle. "I am nothing like you!!" He picked up his sword and started swinging it around.

The Queen shook her head, placing her hands back against her hips. "You're acting like a child Merdius!"

"And you're a beast!" Merdius growled, placing the tip of the sword against the family tapestry. Right in the middle of him and the Queen.

"Don't you dare." The Queen warned, tears slowly forming in her eyes.

"I will never be like you." The Prince roared, ignoring his mothers protests. "I would rather die then be like you!" He took the sword and slashed the tapestry, ripping his mother from the rest of the family.

The Queen gasped in horror and shock. Her sadness was quickly replaced with anger, more anger then before. She snatched Merdius' bow from its place leaning against the wall. "You are a prince! I expect you to act like one." she snapped, throwing his bow into the fireplace. The wood crackled, the flames engulfing it.

Merdius' eyes widened in shock, sadness and anger consuming him. He glared at his mother before running out of the room, ignoring her calls for him. This was drawing the line.

The young Prince left the castle in the rush, not wanting to be anywhere near his mother. He stormed into the stables and readied to take Angus out for a run. He stopped before hopping on his horse, hearing soft sobs in one of the horses stall.

"Blair!?" He called out, walking towards the sobs. He heard a sniffle as the young girl walked out of a stall.

"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." She said sadly, her face red from crying. "I should just go back to my cave."

Merdius shook his head, bringing the girl into a comforting hug. "No. You belong here, with us." He gently moved a strand of hair from her face. "Come ride with me."

Blair nodded, letting him help her hop onto the horse before he jumped on in front of her. The feeling of her arms wrapped around his stomach sent butterflies through his chest.

He led Angus through the stables and towards the forest, not knowing what him and Blair will have to face next.
