She never once wished
For a luxurious life
Rather she wished for a hand.

A hand-held,
A promise kept,
A heartbeat felt,
A soul seen.

And that's when
He crossed her heart.

She couldn't take her eyes off him
As a whisper
Came into her closed heart
And softly melted her.

"She was there, wasn't she?"
Sitting on the bed with a laptop on her lap, Ayana asked Imraan while looking at the photos of their reception that she got from the photographer.

"Who?"
Imraan asked back while getting ready for the office.

"Your fiance. I mean ex-fiance."
For a second Imraan stood still at the unexpected remark before he quickly composed himself.

"W-Why do you ask?"
Clearing his throat, he looked at her through the mirror on the dressing table.

"The way you are avoiding answering me, it seems like I am right. Was that the reason you seemed so disturbed that time?"
Looking back at him, she asked him who silently combed his hair.

"By the way, who's she? I really want to see her."
Curiously Ayana added while looking at the guests' pictures.
"Is she someone I know?"

"Why are you suddenly so interested in my past?"
Irritated at her noisiness, Imraan frowned.

"I'm not interested in your past."
Without looking up from the laptop, she answered.
"I am just curious to see her. I wonder how beautiful she is."
Ayana spoke the last sentence dreamily, already picturing an image of an extremely beautiful woman.

"She is..."
From the corner of his eyes, Imaan cast a look at Ayana.
"Average looking."

'At least in front of you.'
He thought while wearing his waistcoat.

"Eh! Liar!"
Ayana shook her head.
"A stuck-up like you would never fall for someone average looking."

"How come you never leave a chance to taunt me?"
Imraan annoyedly mumbled before saying aloud.
"How many times have I said that I Do Not fall for appearances."

"Yeah yeah, whatever."
Ayana carelessly dismissed his words.

"Gosh! Why won't you believe me?"
Frustrated at her, he spoke.
"If I did fall for appearances, then the first time I saw you, I would have fallen for y-"
Realizing what he was about to say, he stopped whereas Ayana looked away from him as her face started to heat up.

"A-Anyways"
To avoid the awkwardness Imraan cleared his throat before diverting the topic.
"How's your ankle? Seeing the way you are being unnecessarily noisy, seems like it healed."

"Huh? No! It still hurts while walking, you see."
Gulping Ayana replied before putting on a fake show.

"It's been almost a week but how come you still have pain walking?"
Frowning, he asked,
"In the evening I'll take you to the doctor. So be ready."

"NO!"
Ayana semi yelled making Imraan look at her suspiciously.

"I mean why will you take a doctor to another doctor."
Ayana laughed nervously.
"I'm taking the medicines so don't worry. The pain will subside within next week."
