The Community

Jonas woke up on a bed. Next to the bed sat a cradle with Gabe in it. The room he was in was all beige. It reminded him of the nurturing center, or the center for old, where had spent so many of his volunteer hours at. The only other thing in the room was a mirror. This puzzled Jonas. The mirror was as long as that side of the wall, but not as tall. Jonas wondered why there would be a need for a mirror this size. He gets up to inspect the mirror. As he gets closer he realizes that there are loudspeakers around the mirror. He looks over at Gabe sleeping so soundly. Jonas wonders if this is really Elsewhere.

"Hello Jonas, welcome to Denver." The loudspeaker squeaked. "We realize that you might be scared, don't worry. You are here to make sure that no one notices you. We can't have our little secret found out right?" Jonas was very puzzled at the last sentence the loudspeaker had told him.

"What secret?" Jonas looked into the mirror as he said this.

"The secret about the community."
