Behind him, across the vast distances of time and space, from the place he left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo. Jonas didn't want to believe that though. He kept moving forward down the hill. He knew that Elsewhere was just in front of him, that he and Gabe could make it. He walked not for himself, but for Gabe. Gabe needed to survive otherwise he would never ever be able to live with himself. The reason he took Gabe with him was to save him, but if they couldn't make it to Elsewhere then there was no point. As Jonas went farther and farther down the hill, the light that he saw in the distance, the music had so faintly heard, it grew louder. Slowly it crept up on him all at once. Jonas found himself right outside of a community, only it was so much bigger. There were lights everywhere. There were loudspeakers that didn't talk to you, but sang out words. The sidewalk was filled with people even though the weather was so cold. The colors, colors were everywhere. Jonas was so glad that he could see something so beautiful. The colors where the last thing he saw before he passed out.
