I pushed him and took a step back; he stared at me and kept pleading, "Please," as I began to take small steps backwards. I raised my hands and showed him my five fingers, saying, "5 months just 5 months after our marriage farhan , and this is what you did to me, this is what I survived to witness."

Do you even realize the harm you have inflicted on our relationship? I enquired. You know that I have said this since our first meeting, and I continued by saying that I am not opposed to you taking another wife I also said that the foundation of our relationship is trust; now that you've shown me that there is neither trust nor respect between us, you've disproven what I said about the foundation of our marriage.
At that time I decided not give in to him at all .he kept on pleading and I kept looking at him like a big fat liar. I ran to the toilet and locked the door. He kept pleading, but to no avail. I slid myself at the door and sobbed until I was unable to breathe. I stood up, washed my face, took a bath, changed into clean clothes and came out. At that point, I knew what I wanted.

Farhan's betrayal was a punch I didn't see coming. He married someone else, and everyone knew but me. As I sat there, replaying his words, I felt a sharp sting of humiliation. "Wato haka nake a gare ka? (Is this what I mean to you?)" The anger in my chest burned.

I refused to cry in front of him. I had already given him too much power. I stood up, my back stiff, and walked out, ignoring his pleas. "Ka tafi, ban shirya magana yanzu ba (Go, I can't talk right now), I muttered, locking the door behind me.

Fathiya stormed out of the room, her chest tight with anger and embarrassment. Farhan's voice echoed in the background, but she couldn't bear to listen anymore. "Na gaji da wannan (I'm tired of this)," she muttered under her breath, as she walked into the sitting room where her friends sat with their takeout. They paused mid-bite, exchanging glances.

"Where's Amal?" Fathiya asked quietly, scanning the room for any sign of her.

"Ta tafi tun da jimawa (She left a while ago)," Barira replied softly, her eyes filled with concern. Sensing the tension, her friends tried to lighten the mood, offering Fathiya some food, but she waved it off. "Kunyi da kyau, na gode (You did well, thank you)," she said, her voice strained.

The evening passed in a blur, and her friends decided to leave early, sensing that Fathiya needed space. After they left, she sat in silence, trying to gather her thoughts, when her phone rang. She hesitated, seeing her mother-in-law's name on the screen, but answered anyway.

"Fathiya, kin san cewa ina tare da ku (Fathiya, you know I'm on your side)," her mother-in-law began, but Fathiya's heart sank with every word. The truth slowly unraveled—Farhan's family knew about the marriage to Amal long before she did.

"Kun san komai amma ba ku gaya min ba (You all knew but didn't tell me)," Fathiya whispered, her voice trembling with betrayal. Her mother-in-law tried to calm her down, explaining that it wasn't meant to hurt her, but it was too late. Fathiya's trust had been shattered.

Later that night, Farhan returned, his eyes full of regret as he knocked on the bedroom door. "Hiya, ki bude min (Hiya, open the door for me)," he pleaded softly. Fathiya remained silent, sitting on the bed, refusing to respond.

"Ka tafi, Farhan, ban son jin komai daga gare ka (Go, Farhan, I don't want to hear anything from you)," she finally shouted, her voice breaking. Farhan knocked again, more insistently, but Fathiya stood her ground, locking herself further into her thoughts and pain.

He sat outside the door, his voice low and apologetic. "Ki taimaka ki saurare ni, don Allah (Please, listen to me, for God's sake)," he begged, but Fathiya only shook her head, her tears flowing again.
