he wasn't very excited about that.

he kind of had an idea of what it was about.

he hasn't said anything about it, and he tried his best not to show it, but that kiss was all he thought about. the feeling of it vividly replayed in his head. the feeling of her lips crashing against his over, and over again.

in a way, it kind of motivated him to keep pursuing their friendship. cause he knew it would never happen again.

a part of him wishes he could tell her how much he cared, how much he thought about it, how much harder resisting his emotions gets every single fucking day- but he can't. cause she doesn't feel the same.

so, yeah, it does really suck, pretending like she isn't the most captivating person he's ever met. but, she just wanted to be his best friend. and he'd take anything she gave him.

"vinnie," lola broke the silence, pulling him out of his anxious thoughts at the same time, "okay, um...i'm just gonna get straight to the point."

"uhm, okay," vinnie nodded, pausing the bouncing of his leg so he could give her all of his undivided attention.

"it's, uhh...it's about the kiss..." she shifted her eyes down to her own coffee mug.

"oh." vinnie paused to take a deep breath, "uhm, okay,"

"i, i think we kind of just brushed it off too fast, but, i um, i still think about it." the girl spoke quietly.

"uhm, okay," was all vinnie could mutter out in reply, trying to process what she just confessed and what she could've meant by it.

lola frowned, "can you say anything else?"

"yeah, i still think about it too." vinnie spoke with more volume once he was called out for his lack of versatility.

"oh."

"yeah."

lola sighed. this conversation wasn't going anywhere. "uhm, okay, well, why do you still think about it?" vinnie asked her, trying to figure out what she meant before he began overthinking it.

"because i think that it was...an experience. why do you still think about it?"

vinnie looked at his nails, then back up at her face, "because everyday since then, i've liked you more and more."

lola felt all her oxygen get stuck in her throat. that caught her completely off guard. she almost felt the need to gasp for air when she saw his mouth open as he was going to continue talking.

"lola, i...i think that i imagined you being ashamed of it, the kiss we shared. but this conversation is changing my mind. so, i'm gonna sound like a fucking goof right now, but I'm telling you; i liked that kiss. and i like you. and i don't know what to do about it."

lola felt her heart beat speed up in excitement, but also felt a weight being lifted off her shoulders at the same time.

lola suddenly felt a hint of courage to continue the conversation. "i also liked the kiss. and i also like you. and i also don't know what to do." lola reciprocated his exact words back to him, giggling a bit at the end.

that made him smile, maybe even laugh a little bit.

"hey...you know how i really, really like the show Austin & Ally?" vinnie raised his eyebrows at her.

lola gave him a smile, "yeah, duh. we watch it too damn much."

vinnie let out a short chuckle, "yeah. well, there's this episode, where austin and ally realize they like each other- and it's kind of weird, cause y'know they've alway been austin and ally, not austin with ally."

lola nodded along, letting him know that she was listening.

"so, after they admit their feelings and all, they decide to go on a date...and it goes terrible. it's awkward, they don't like the food, and after the date they realize maybe it was just puppy love. they realize that maybe it was just 'puppy love' or whatever, and that they'd never work out, that they could never be in love with each other. i always...i always used to think that was us. i always thought that perfectly explained our situation."

lola felt her heartbreak in what felt like rejection mixed with betrayal, "oh."

"but," vinnie started again, making lola look at him, "later on, they realize they couldn't claim they wanted a relationship that they didn't fight for. they go on another date, and it goes amazing, and they fall in love, and they're happier than they couldve ever inagined. that...that's how i see us now."

lola smiled wide, looking down at their hands as she felt vinnie lock his pinky with hers.

she didn't know if he linked their pinkies because he didn't want to chance any fans seeing them, or because that was his baby steps towards holding her hand; but either way, she thought it was just adorable.

"lola, i don't know what could happen between us, but all i know is that i'm willing to fight to make sure everything that happens is good. and i want you to know that you're happiness would always be my number one priority." vinnie spoke as passionately as he possibly could, looking into her eyes as he searched for any sign of her being uncomfortable or disgusted.

"are you...seriously asking me to be your girlfriend right now? lord almighty, i feel like i'm in one of those fanfictions-"

"lola," vinnie cut her off with a laugh, shaking his head. "will you...let me be your boyfriend?"

"only if you let me be your girlfriend." lola beamed in response, holding out her hand for him to shake.

vinnie returned the glistening smile, shaking her hand, "deal. best deal i've ever made."
