lola frowned, "you sound like my mom."

"lola!"

"i kissed vinnie in minnesota!" lola quickly blurted out, slapping her hand over her mouth right after.

veondre's mouth dropped open in shock, but she closed it back after only a few seconds as she tried to wrap her head around what the girl had just thrown at her.

"like...a peck? or-"

"no, like...passionate. not making out, nessicarily, but it was...yeah."

veondre put her hands on her cheeks, being able to tell that lola was being dead serious, "oh god, why? how? why didn't you tell me sooner? god, i would've never guessed because you guys still act so...oh my god, I'm just...wow."

"i...i thought i may have had a crush on him, and i decided that maybe kissing him would make it easier to tell. so, when he came in my room, i asked him if i could kiss him, and he said yes...so, i kind of just went for it. I'm sorry i didn't tell you when it happened, i just kind of felt like we were drifting apart at the time, and i didnt know what to do." lola confessed, letting out a sigh.

"lola, baby," veondre frowned, "no matter how distant we are, you can always come to me, and i'm sorry for making you think otherwise. but...do you?"

"do i what?" lola furrowed her eyebrows in response, eating a few pieces of popcorn. "have a crush on him..." veondre trailed off.

"yeah...i-i do. and it just sucks cause i know he doesn't feel the same." lola answered honestly, sighing softly, almost feeling ashamed at how vunerable she was being about her feelings.

"you need to tell him...i know you may think he doesn't like you back, but this is gonna keep eating at you until you get it off your chest." veondre advised as best as she could. "but..." lola looked away, avoiding eye contact, "what if i make a fool out of myself."

"then i'll whoop his ass like i'm his mama."

lola laughed loudly and lightly shoved her shoulder out of a playful manner, "ve! i'm being serious, for fuck's sake,"

veondre chuckled and shook her head, "okay, but seriously, if that does happen, then you should just feel relieved. you definitely would be dodging a bullet. any man who actually deserves you, wouldn't make you feel like a fool."

lola sighed and nodded, "i'll call-"

veondre shook her head again, "no, you'll meet up with him. in person."

lola looked at her, "okay...i'll meet up with him, tomorrow."

veondre held her pinky up, "pinky promise?"

veondre's pinky was soon held captive by lola's, "pinky promise."

vinnie taped his fingers anxiously on the coffee mug in front of him, slightly bouncing his leg as he felt suffocated in the uncomfortable silence around them.

lola had asked to meet him at his favorite coffee shop the night before. at first, he was excited to hang out with the woman who had become his everything. but soon after, he was made aware that the meeting was so that they could have a "talk".
