Flutter: Dix - Neuf

Start from the beginning

"Here's how this is going to occur. I am going to speak and you are going to listen. That means, when I am speaking, you are listening - not shouting, arguing, or bickering. When I am done speaking, you may ask questions. Am I clear?"

Nora nodded.

"Good."  He said, clasping his hands. "Now, I am sure, that on your moonlight walk yesterday, you observed the moon. You must have noticed that it is nearly full. In fact, it will be a full moon is about three days. I hope that you have remained cognizant of the fact that once the full moon approaches, we will be mating."

Nora jerked and Quinton paused, daring her to interrupt, but she kept her quiet.

"Sunday night, I will expect you ready, in your bed, at midnight. We will mate and will be officially and without a doubt, paired. Soon after, we shall attend the regional conference, and you, along with all newly mated she-wolfs, will be presented."

Nora tried to keep her composure, however, Quinton's intent began to dawn on her and panic was beginning to take hold. "Mated? To him?" Nora knew that he meant by mating and she was not  overjoyed with the idea of having to share a bed with Quinton - the man who had all but shut her in the house under lock and key.

"Now, you may be wondering as to what will be expected of you. I am sure you would prefer to discuss such delicate matters with a female, like yourself. Mary will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. The point I wanted to address is that we will be mated, very soon. It is best that you ready yourself whatever way necessary."

She felt light-headed.  Nora did not want to mate Quinton - she hadn't when he had first approached her and her dislike of him had grown even more so now. Perhaps there had been a time when she had tolerated the idea, but those thoughts were long gone now, having been obliterated by Quinton's hegemony.

"That is all I wanted to discuss with you. Now, do you have any questions?"  Quinton offered, sitting back in his seat.

"I-I don't want to." Nora stuttered.

"Don't want to what?"

"Mate with you."

"Ah. My directions may not have been specific enough. I asked for questions - not declarations of defiance. We will be mated Nora, you have no choice. Our children must be had some how. Take time to warm up to the idea."

Nora shuddered at the thought, earning her narrowed eyes.

"Do not fear. It will be swift and to the point. I have no intention of keeping you for longer than necessary. Now that's all the business I had to discuss with you. You may leave."

Nora just gawked at him, surprised at how calm and impersonal he was, making statements to her as if she was just another on of the gammas he was in charge of. Seeing that Quinton had no more use of her, she rose out of the chair and walked away, fingers clutched into a fist.

Nora managed to make it halfway down the hall, before stopping. Back against the wall, Nora slid down until she hit the floor.

Hours later...

Quinton opened the door slowly and gazed at the sleeping Nora. It was late and well into the wee hours of the morning. He had tossed and turned in his bed all night. He sat up, restless, and could not stop staring at the wooden barrier that separated him from his mate. Despite his better judgement, Quinton found himself staying under the arch of the doorway, looking into her bedroom.

Staring was not all he wanted to do. Quinton would not allow himself to go pass the door frame, for he did not trust his will power. The moon grew fuller with every passing minute and so did his virility. The beast within him was clawing at his inside, desperately wanting to take over Nora and have her bound to him forever. The thought of marking Nora for life made Quinton's blood run faster and he itched to disrobe her - have his way with her, taking his pleasure.

Quinton gripped the door knob, denting it.

The next few days were not going to be easy and he knew that maintain his distance was the only way he would manage to make it to the full moon. He was ridding himself of temptation - sleeping in his own bedroom and keeping far away from her. That very afternoon, having to sit across from her was the trial of his lifetime. He took notice of everything she did. Quinton was practically jumped out of his chair and onto her when she dragged her tongue across her lips.

The dent grew.

It was not as if he couldn't have her now, however, the bond that he desired to elicit would be that much stronger if he could only wait a couple of days. Then, maybe, the attraction that Nora lacked towards Quinton could be awakened. "Maybe," Quinton thought, "she will be subdued." Quinton did not profess to be a scientist of any kind, but perhaps, the mating would bond her to him and make her that much more obliging. She showed promise today. Nora left without even one angry gasp, glare, or grumble.

It was worth a shot, he figured. Even if that didn't work, Quinton would enjoy the moment regardless.  Quinton had never mated before, but from what he understood, it was to be a momentous occasion.

"Until then." Quinton muttered out loud, and with a hand on the crushed metal, Quinton shut the door behind him.
