Chapter 21: Ambush

Athena's POV,

"Checkmate."

Aki groaned in frustration while rolling her eyes. "Ayoko na!Dinadaya mo ako!"she said flipping all the chess pieces.

"Walang dayang naganap Aki. It's just that, I'm better than you."I said smirking.

"Whatever."she grabbed her phone and dialed someone. "Ken, I need—"

I cut her off. "You won't move until Prof said so."I said.

"I can't stay here doing nothing when I already know who to chase."inis na sabi niya.

"We need to be precise on our every move. You can't just go without a plan. Plus, no matter how much you hate professor Axel, he knows what to do."giit ko. Nanggagalaiti niyang pinatay ang tawag at hinagis sa couch ang cellphone niya.

"Let's just help Ian find leads."I added.

"Better than slacking."she replied. As if on a cue, biglang pumasok si Soriano. Bago pa siya makapagsalita, inunahan na siya ni Aki.

"Drive."

"Uhm...gusto niyo kumain muna?May drive thru sa malapit—"

"I'm not hungry."putol ni Aki kay Soriano.

"I am. Soriano, can we?"I asked him. He flashed a small smile.

"Sige."sabi niya saka lumiko.

"Seriously?Nagmamadali tayo di ba?Bakit hindi na lang tayo kumain doon sa agency niyo?"inis na sabi ni Aki na nasa backseat. Siya pumili niyan saka mas gusto ko rin naman sa tabi ng driver's seat. Sa tabi ni Soriano.

"Walang pagkain doon. By the way, let's buy some foods for Leslie and Ian too."I said.

"No worries Athena. Ako na rin magbabayad para may ambag ako."he said which made me nod. Medyo mahigpit rin ako sa pera dahil marami akong ginagastos para sa sarili ko kaya  mas okay na siya na ang magbabayad.

"May gusto ka ba Aki?Para mabili na natin."tanong ni Soriano.

"Wala."she said but her stomach contradicted her when it growled.

I chuckled. "Wala talaga?"I said trying to tease her.

"Kahit ano nalang,"sabi niya saka umirap.

Then we stopped at the drive thru to buy fast foods snack then Soriano start driving again. Wala namang bago, tahimik pa rin sa biyahe. Busy akong tumingin sa kawalan habang busy sa pagcecellphone si Aki. Habang nasa biyahe, naramdaman ko nalang ang kamay ni Soriano sa kamay ko, filling up the gaps between my fingers using his'.

"Maglandian pa kayo, pag tayo nadisgrasya—"bago pa matapos ni Aki ang sinasabi niya, bigla nalang nagpagewang gewang ang sasakyan. Napabitaw si Soriano sa akin, saka pinilit kontrolin ang manibela.

"What the fuck?I was just about to say—"

"Na-flat yung gulong!"Soriano announced.

"What?"I muttered. Are we being—

"There's a secret compartment in front of you Athena. Give the gun to me."

"H-Ha?Anong nangyayari?"takang tanong ni Soriano. Samantalang sinunod ko ang sinabi ni Aki. After all, she knows her car well.

"Just drive pest."saad ni Aki. Nakita ko ang sinasabi niyang baril, its a beretta cougar. I immediately gave it to her and she opened the left window beside her. Im not good at shooting but I might give it a try. Plus, I know she needs additional assistance. I saw another pistol from the compartment so I took it.

"We'll be fine Soriano,"I said to him when I noticed he's been shaking so much. He nodded while keeping his eye straight to the road.

I glanced at Aki who shoots outside then hides on the car again. I see bullets outside the car but won't passed on since the car's bulletproof.

I decided to give it a try also so I opened the window, shoot them then hide again. I keep doing it with a goal of shooting their wheel. Its pretty hard actually, especially, we're not driving straight because of a flat wheel. But I know Soriano's doing his best for the car to move stable.

"I'll shoot the left wheel and you'll shoot the right."Aki instructed. Yeah, like Aki, I hated being instructed by her but she knows what to do so I have no choice.

I nodded and then she counts. At three, we both look outside then shoot their wheels. Fate sided with us this time, shooting both of their front wheels accurately. They finally came into a stop and then Aki commanded Soriano to drive faster. I looked at the rear mirror and saw the guys went out from the car. They ran and shoot us, even shooting the mirror I'm looking at. Thank god, they weren't able to follow us.

"Congrats to us!We don't need to find them, because they already did."Aki said sarcastically.

Yeah. Funny but true.
