"I think it was this way." Rider lead his friends along the dark hallways of the lab. After breaking free of his chamber, he was able to retrieve everyone else.

Except for that orange boy. Rider had searched and searched, but he couldn't find him.

"I don't think you're positive. We've been walking along these halls for THIRTY. FUCKING. MINUTES." Mask grunted from behind. Rider ignored him and continued down the hall.

"This seems odd." Aloha stared at a space on the wall. Bobble hat headed over to Aloha and touched the wall. "Yeah, Guys come over here."

Rider approached the wall and looked at it closely. The color of the wall was a little bit off. "Your right." He slammed his shoulder into the wall, and it came down with a THUMP. A whole different hall. A red sign glowed on the other side of the collapsed wall. Test Chamber #5: Body and soul cursing. This must be it. Rider lead the group down the hall and opened the single door.

What waited inside made him stop in his tracks.

The room inside was ENORMOUS. The room was filled with different sizes and colors of pipes and cords, and a huge chalkboard was on one side of the room, and calculations were written on it. The room was so big there were bridges high above him. There were hisses and steaming sounds all around him, and there was a large cylinder tank that stretched to the top of the room. Bubbles floated to the top of it, and there was a figure floating in the tank.

Rider climbed a ladder to the bridges, while the rest of his friends looked around the room. The bridge leads three different ways: to the left, to the right, and towards the tank. Rider slowly headed in the direction of the tank. Trying to recognize the figure in the tank. Orange hair, pale face, black clothes, covered in tubes...

Rider stopped cold.

No.

The orange inkling... was the tangerine boy from the forest... ((Writer's note: see previous chapter: memory))

But... he looked different when he first saw him in the lab. His hair was curly, he had the facial marks of an octoling, he had a tail, and his skin was faded. Was he trying to... hide his identity? "Oh, Nero..." he whispered, pressing his hand to the glass.

"Well well well... look what we have here," A deep voice sounded behind Rider, and he snapped around and saw another scientist. His hair was blonde, his eyes were golden with red pupils, and he wore a lab coat. He had a mischievous grin that made Rider sick. "Inklings..."  He ran his hand along the rails of the ladder. "In my lab..." He grinned even more. "How exciting."

"Who are you?!" Mask swiped Rider's words off his tongue from on the ground. The man laughed.

"Silly me, I forgot to introduce myself to my guests. My name Is Jason, and I created this lab." He gestured to the lab.

"Why?" Rider whispered, his feet swaying.

"I wanted to learn how to reach your pathetic town, so I can end the war between Inklings and Humans." Jason stared at Rider coldly. "We all know there can be only one victor: us. So I took your friend, who is a little bit of both, and ill be keeping him to power my precious lab, as I have been with other inklings."

That's wrong. Rider winced, then stared at Nero, and then his friends. "You can be as cruel as you want, Jason..." Rider reached behind his back, secretly grabbing hold of a crowbar. "But leave my kind ALONE!" He whipped out the crowbar and launched himself at Jason, who effortlessly dodged, and backed to the other side of the bridge. Rider leaped in the air and slammed the crowbar at Jason, but only hit the bridge, which wobbled from the force. He swung and swung, but Jason just dodged. Furious, Rider whipped it at his face.

There was a loud CLANG, and Jason caught the crowbar with his hand before it hit his face. "Futile," he said, before hitting Rider in the side with the same crowbar. All of the air came rushing out of Rider, and he hit the ground. It's hopeless...

"Rider!" Bobble hat tossed something up to him, and Rider caught it. A grenade... he held the bomb in his hand delicately and got up to his feet. Fury rushed through him, and he pulled out the pin and launched the bomb at Jason, who dodged. The grenade hit the tank with a dink, and for a moment, nothing happened, but then...

BOOM!!
