"You left your door open," he called ahead.

Zelda stopped and turned around. She huffed and quickly went to close it.

"Why are our rooms so far apart?" she asked.

"Why are you asking me? You're the one who gave it to me."

Zelda sighed. "Yeah, I guess you're right." She reached out and grabbed his hand. "We're almost there. We can walk the rest of the way."

Zelda led him around a few more corners until they reached one last turn. She stopped right before the corner and turned around to face him.

"Ok," she said. "I know that you don't really like drawing attention to yourself and you tend to be more humble when it comes to this sort of stuff, but..." her head turned around the corner. "...but I thought..."

"Zelda, what is it?" Link asked.

She sighed and smiled. "Why don't you see for yourself."

Link turned the corner and his jaw dropped.

It was a beautiful, pure white room with marble floors, pillars, and long tall windows with the morning sun shining perfectly through. The top of the doorway read:

THE HALL OF THE HERO

Link looked at Zelda in awe. She tilted her head towards the room, beckoning him to go forward.

He walked into the room. Four grand marble pillars reached all the way to the ceiling. On the sides of the room were pedestals with artifacts relating to Link's adventures on them, like guardian parts, weapons, pictures, and other items, each with a black and gold plaque with a description engraved on them.

He stood holding Zelda's hand in pure shock and awe.

"I wanted to get you down here early so the sun would hit just right," she explained.

Link turned in the room, taking in every little detail. In the back of the room was a curtain draped over something on the wall.

"What's that?" he said pointing to the wall.

Zelda smiled. "That's your job to figure out."

Link slipped his fingers out of hers and walked to the curtain. There was a tassel running down the edge of the curtain. He grabbed it and looked at Zelda for confirmation. She eagerly nodded.

Link grabbed it tighter and yanked the curtain off the wall.

There hung a gigantic painting of Link, thrusting the Master Sword in the air overlooking Kakariko Village as the sun set behind the hills.

Link was speechless.

"I asked Pikango to paint this when I first asked you for lessons. I thought it would be the perfect piece of artwork to bring the entire room together."

Link stared up at the magnificent artwork. Zelda walked up behind him.

"Is it too much?" she asked.

Link turned to her and scooped her up in his arms and twirled her around. She laughed as she flew through the air. After he set her down he gently kissed her lips. He ran a hand through her hair.

"This is amazing," he said. "This is absolutely amazing."

Zelda smiled. "I'm glad you like it."

She turned her back to him and looked at some of the artifacts in the room. "I first asked Hudson to build this when we talked about the initial construction plans. He suggested..."

Her voice faded away as Link looked at Zelda beam with pride. The sun hit her golden hair just right and sent butterflies flying around in Link's stomach. Zelda was perfect in every single way, and Link knew that to be true. He slowly took out the small box and played with it in his hand. Thinking about what could happen after today made him grin from ear to ear. It was the right time.

"...but it all worked out in the end. I, for one, am very proud about how it all turned out."

Her back was still to Link. He slowly walked up.

"I think it's spectacular, Zelda," he started. "Although, with no more evil in the land, there isn't really any use for a hero anymore."

She tilted her head "What do you mean?" she asked.

"Well, I think it might be time for something that's maybe better than a hero."

"Oh? And what's that?" Zelda turned around and gasped.

Link knelt on one knee, holding out a ring. It was pure gold, shining as bright as the sun. It was a circular band with the royal crest at the top of it. Link had the biggest smile Zelda had ever seen. She covered her mouth and fought back tears.

"Link," she said as she choked up. "Are you serious?"

"Zelda, I love you," he said. "I think Hyrule might be due for a King... and his Queen."
