Sarina (Chapter 69)🎄

Start from the beginning

We sat down on the couch to admire it.

"That's real right", I asked.

"Yep."

"Who decorated it?"

"The house staff."

"Oh of course, the house staff."

"What?"

"Nothing, I'm not surprised anymore when it comes to the taste of the rich."

"I can go for less if that's what you want", he said.

"Mh...I don't know. Like for a house, I can do something simple, like my parent's house."

"That's fine with me, with a nice yard though."

"For a pool?"

"No, no more pools. It attracts Joshes."

I laughed and so did he.

"Look at us, talking like this is our actual plan."

"Why can't it be", he said in a serious tone.

I looked at him.

"What, you want to live with me?"

"I still remember talking about our futures so it's a start."

"That's a long wait after my dad gets over wanting to kill you."

He chuckled.

"That's okay."

I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"So, what did you get me?"

"Seriously? I thought you weren't materialistic. You're as bad as Masen."

I giggled.

"What? It's Christmas, you're supposed to give me a gift."

He rolled his eyes and then stood up to walk over to the tree.

He came back with a black velvet rectangle box in hand.

I took it to open it up to reveal the most beautiful necklace I'd ever seen. It was a uniquely cut gem I don't recognize, must be rare and super expensive.

"It's custom-made. I didn't want to pick out something someone else has."

"You shouldn't have. Spending so much money on me is-"

He kneeled down in front of me.

"Is what", he questioned.

My eyes shifted from the necklace to him.

"It's not necessary", I said in a small voice.

"Well I thought it was. I'm an adult after all, I can buy whatever I want."

He took the necklace out of the box and gestured at me to move forward, inches from his face. I guess he's a pro at this since he doesn't have to see what he's doing.

"So...what did you get me", he asked as he placed the necklace around my neck, his eyes intensively looking into mine.

"Uh...me being here?"

He finished with the necklace. I sat back, leaning onto the couch.

"You're cheap", he said bluntly.

"Hey! How am I supposed to compete against a necklace like this that costs like hundreds of dollars...no...thousands of dollars? You saw I struggled to pay my taxi fare."

He chuckled.

"A gift doesn't require you to buy anything", he said.

"I know. So what did you want?"
