A hole was opening, large enough to fit through, and L wasted no time climbing into it.
They appeared in Emrik's living room, it was well lit and the smell of bananas was pungent. Three tall vials were sitting on the coffee table, a purple-green liquid swirled inside.
"It's ready, are you sure you're in the right state of mind to go now?" Emrik asked, his tone gentle.
L nodded, reaching over to grab a vial. "I'm positive, the sooner I'm away from here the better."
Robbie reached for his own vial, watching their conversation in silence.
"I see, and the last vial?" Emrik asked carefully, not questioning her decision.
"Throw it away, I doubt anyone will be using it."
L felt the sting of her own words, a lump formed in her throat but she forced it all down. This wasn't the place or time to break down, she could do that later with nobody around.
"Very well. Once you leave here, you will need to travel to the mountain of Kjerag. There you will find a nexus of magical energy, when you stand atop, drink the potion. You will start to feel as if you are falling asleep, don't fight it, that is the potion filling your body. When it reaches your feet, the potion and nexus will touch, catalysing into a portal that will send you to Paguea."
L nodded, tucking the vial into her bag.
"I do not know what you will find in Paguea but I hope it is everything you want. The return journey will not be so easy however, something your parents were also warned about. You must find the correlating nexus in Paguea, and there is only one. It moves around but you should be able to sense the flow of energy once you get close enough. When you reach it, you must touch the ground with your bare feet. The potion will still be in your system, but it will need maximum connection to the nexus to work. Do you understand? All of you must be touching the ground for you all to come back."
L nodded again, filing every detail away for when she would need it.
"I'm sorry I can't send you to Kjerag via magic, the nexus causes too much interference. And due to that fact, you should be extremely cautious while you're there, your magic will also be affected."
L shrugged, "It's fine, I could use the challenge. Is there anything else?"
Emrik sighed and leaned down so he was level with L.
"I've always said Elves are stupid, I'm sorry you had to experience it for yourself."
L knew exactly what he meant, she too was sorry but she wasn't about to get into her feelings with him. She nodded her understanding and moved to stand next to Robbie.
"Thank you for everything you've done. Would you mind giving my apologies to the royal family for my sudden departure?"
Emrik nodded, understanding what she really meant. He led them to the door. "I will. Be safe out there, L."
L's smile was filled with sadness as she left through the door of the room and suddenly emerging on the outskirts of the Elf kingdom. Her sad smile turned grateful, Emrik was truly one of a kind. Robbie appeared beside her a second later, mouth wide open at where they were.
L took a moment to calculate the route they'd need to get to Kjerag.
"Does this mean I get to fly?" Robbie asked giddily when L told him the details of the journey.
"If you want to?"
Robbie was so excited he wasted no time in transforming, standing tall and proud, his scales shone in the moonlight. It was peculiar to see a Dragon looking relieved, but it was obvious how much he'd missed this. L climbed aboard and they swept into the sky, leveling out just below the cloud line so L could navigate.
