It's You and Me, Always

Start from the beginning

"Uh-huh. Me and Uncew Atur, friends!" Finn said, nodding his head

"Alrighty, we're gonna head out now. See you later!" Hiccup said, waving bye to both Finn and Arthur

"So, what do you have planned today, mister?" Astrid asked, once they got to the car

"Oh, you know, a little picnic at the cove, and since the kids would be having a sleepover at Dad's place tonight, I figured we could go out for a nice dinner" Hiccup said, smiling

"That sounds perfect" Astrid said, leaning back in her seat, closing her eyes to take a nap

About half an hour later Hiccup gently shook her awake and told her that they had arrived. Hiccup laid the mat down by the water, which was frozen solid.

"Hey, do you remember when we used to skate here with the gang?" Astrid asked

"Funny that you say that" Hiccup said, pulling out two pairs of ice skates from a duffel bag that appeared out of nowhere to Astrid

"You found our old skates! I thought Snotlout lost them after we lent them to him" She exclaimed, as she took a pair Hiccup had handed to her

"As much as that sounds like Snot, I found them in the garage while I was cleaning" He said, stepping on the ice, patiently waiting for Astrid to finish putting hers on

"You clean? Since when?" She asked jokingly, stepping on the ice as well

"Uh, I clean everytime you step into the kitchen" He replied back

"Hey, for your information, mister. My cooking has improved a little since we got married" She said, crossing her arms

"If you insist" He said laughing

They skated for about an hour. Racing each other. Attempting to pull off the fancy tricks they used to be able to do. Enjoying each other's company, and sharing old stories from when they were kids. Once their feet started to get sore, they put their shoes back on and got into their little picnic basket which was filled with a couple of sandwiches and juice. They sat, laughed, and joked around with each other, like the way they used to when they were just two kids in love. After what felt like a really short time, they packed up, and headed home to get ready for their nice little dinner.

"Astrid? Are you ready? Our reservation is at 7 and it's already 6:30!" Hiccup said, as he was buttoning his emerald green long-sleeved shirt all the way

"I'm ready. I'll just go grab my purse and we can head out" She said, walking out of their bathroom, taking Hiccup's breath away. She was wearing this beautiful, flowy, maroon dress that had one strap. Her hair was down, parted to the side, and it fell perfectly in place down her shoulders. She wasn't the kind of girl who wore jewelry often, but when she did, Oh, Thor she looked like a goddess

"You look..." He said softly, gesturing to all of her, "Absolutely stunning, Milady" taking her hand, bowing down, and planting a kiss on the back of her hand

"And you look as handsome as ever, babe" She said, unbuttoning one of the buttons of Hiccup's shirt

"What was that for?" He asked, about to button it back

"You look better with it not buttoned all the way" She smiled, ruffling his hair, then headed to the car

"Hey! It took me a good five minutes to get it the way it was" Called out Hiccup, fixing his hair while following Astrid

They hopped into their car, with Hiccup in the driver's seat, and headed off to one of the fanciest restaurant on Berk, it's known for having the best view in all of Berk, the restaurant itself rested on top of a mountain, and had a big balcony where some tables were placed. This place was called "Viking's View". Once they had arrived, they were being led to their table by a friendly waiter. They were seated on the balcony. After they had ordered their food - a medium-rare steak with a side of mashed potatoes for Hiccup, and a nice bowl of carbonara with a salad on the side for Astrid - the two sat, staring at the view. The sky was painted a soft pink with a little bit of orange, the bright sun slowly setting.

"Hey, thank you" Hiccup said suddenly, turning his head from the sky to Astrid

"For what?" Astrid said, turning to face him with a confused look

"For always being there with me, and not leaving me. Throughout the whole thing with Arthur, and other things, you could've left me, but you stayed, you stayed with me, and dealt with it by my side. It's just...I don't even know. You were just there for me, like how I'm always here for you" All this just came out all at once, and he sighed contentedly when he was done

"I mean, it's you and me, Hiccup, always. You told me something similar when you proposed. 'There always has been a Hiccup and Astrid, always'. So whatever happens you know we'd be there for each other" She smiled and he took her hand, rubbing little circles on it with his thumb.

They shared that little moment, looking into each other's eyes, feeling so happy, then their food came. They ate and had conversations. Talking about their past, the present, and what their future may hold. When they finished, they headed home, changed, and went to bed, laying peacefully in each other's arms, enjoying the silence

"I love you, milady" Hiccup whispered, and planted a kiss on her forehead

"I love you too, Haddock" She whispered back, and snuggled into his chest. With that, the two fell asleep.
