Darwin wasn't sure how long he had been asleep, but he woke up to find the moon outside the window, the room's lights having not been turned off, blinding him for a moment. "Huh.. Why didn't anyone wake me up?"

He got out of the bottom bunk bed, yawning as he glanced around at his surroundings. The goldfish soon noticed Gumball's absence, to his confusion. He couldn't remember ever hearing or seeing him leave. If anything, he wasn't sure how he wasn't woken up, considering they had been cuddling together earlier. However, as he stood up, he heard a loud crunch beneath his shoes, snapping him out of his thoughts. "What the?"

Darwin looked down at the carpet, discovering a trail of the flowers that the cat had tried to give him earlier. Curious, he picked one up, realizing they were cornflowers. "Oh, so that's why he asked.."

The fish couldn't help but feel touched.

As he followed the trail of flowers, some broken while others were completely fine, he was led downstairs to the dining table, where they surrounded the area, a cream-colored tablecloth draped over it. Two chairs were seen each on one side of the table, and the light overhead was on. Napkins and silverware were also present, folded neatly in place, along with two glasses.

"Good evening m'.. Lady? I dunno I didn't think that line through."

Darwin flinched, though soon recognized the voice, turning around to see Gumball behind him, a smile on the cat's face. So that would explain where he went.

"Aw, I figured you made all this. What's it for?" He smiled back, as he soon noticed Gumball wearing a suit. It was certainly overkill, but that definitely meant there was something planned, knowing how his partner was.

"Well.." The cat nervously grinned as he scratched the back of his head. It was slightly awkward, as well as hard to admit the reason. "It's... kinda my way of saying sorry that me asking you out earlier didn't go as I thought?"

"A date?" Darwin could feel himself blushing at the thought. Now that he thought about it though, it did make sense now why the cat was holding flowers for him earlier. "That's so sweet of you.. Though if I knew I would've dressed better."

"It's okay. It was a surprise anyway." Gumball said, as he took him over to the neatly decorated table. He looked fairly nervous at first, quite obviously wanting to make sure everything was perfect just like he had it up to be. "Give me one sec."

He disappeared into the kitchen, as the goldfish sat down in the first chair, waiting eagerly for whatever was going to occur. He tried to fix his posture to make sure the other knew not to be so worried about slipping up. "So.. Where is everyone? Shouldn't Mrs. Mom be here by now chewing us out for doing this so late?"

"Everybody's at Granny Jojo's house tonight." The cat's voice was heard from behind the counter, as what sounded like dishes were being handled. A delicious smell was coming from there as well. "Mom said they won't be back until the morning."

That pretty much confirmed that they were alone for the night.

Gumball came back into the room, two plates in each paw. Spaghetti was placed onto them, with red sauce spread onto the dish, parmesan cheese drizzled over the top. "Bon Appetit mi amor."

Darwin couldn't help but snicker, the cat raising an eyebrow by the response. "Did you just speak both French and Spanish?"

"Aw come on, I'm just trying to set the mood to make it all fancy and uh.. Romantic-y?" The feline set the food onto the table, his face very much red and embarrassed at the realization of his error. "Okay I didn't think that line through either."

"You're doing great." The fish replied, giving him a smile.

Gumball smiled back, feeling his confidence grow by the compliment. "Thanks! Anyways uh, yeah. Enjoy!"
