Monochrome Mixel, M.C., placed himself down on a stool. He had spent the past day, well, waking up for the first time, before being thrust into a city-saving adventure alongside the Mixels of the Infernite, Cragster and Electroid tribes. Friendships had been forged in Klinker-branded iron, and no trials or battles had deterred the freshly reunited Mixels - neither a small band of Mixel crooks or the Nixel Armada. They had freed three districts on the outskirts of Mixopolis after King Nixel had stormed them, restoring the colors of Nixed Mixels and finding three Cubit shards along the way.

Of course, the mystery of M.C.'s past loomed over him like an intense shadow, especially after the discovery of his tribe-shifting powers, but that was irrelevant. The trial that M.C. was about to face was perhaps his greatest yet - even of all time. Neither the rock-hard Krader or quick-minded Teslo had succeeded at this ultimate test. But courage mattered more than the failures of others, and so, M.C. prepared to face the greatest challenge of all.

Without hesitation, he slurped up an entire Lavanut Deluxe beverage in one gulp. Even as the piping-hot liquid made his mouth glow a bright red, he didn't flinch. The Cragsters and Electroids looked on in amazement. "Holy s-z-s-z-schnixel, he's doing it!" Zaptor exclaimed through puffs of smoke, having previously attempted the same trial by fire. He slammed the empty shell on the counter, turning to face Flain with a smug expression. "How's THAT?" M.C. said aloud with confidence.

But Flain returned a smirk with even more confidence than M.C.'s, one more genuine. "Alright, man. Why don't ya stop using your Infernite powers as a cheat first?" M.C. froze as Flain eyed his left arm, which had shifted to a typical Infernite red. M.C. quickly hid the arm behind his back as Flain began to squint. "What's the matter, dude? Too afraid to lose the challenge?" He said, now more cocky than ever and grinning. M.C. began to tremble as his Infernite color overtook both of his feet. M.C. was struggling to keep his mouth shut now, and Flain was taking notice. "Dag-nabbit." Flain's grin turned to a laugh as M.C. caved and let his Infernite powers take over, resulting in him leaning back and blasting a hole through the ceiling with his now-flaming breath. "And that leaves me the undisputed champion, ha!" Flain said, taking a shot of the drink himself.

While that was occuring, Teslo laid out the three Cubit shards the group had collected over the course of their journey. "Hm..." Shuff and Volectro joined across from him in one of the deluxe diner chairs the Lava Lounge housed. "What got there, Teslo?" Shuff asked. "Thes-z-se shards perplex me. Each of them is bigger than a normal Cubit, yet has-z-s-z-s far more power. Where do they come from?" Teslo said.

"Well, the Infernites-z-s-z-s and Cragster ones got found after battles! No telling where that Murp freak got theirs." Volectro added. "Maybe there more, maybe they go together?" Shuff questioned. Teslo attempted to put the three together, but their shaping wasn't identical. "They don't match, hm... Maybe there's more of these. How did nobody find them until now?"

As M.C. recovered from the challenge, smoke coming out of his mouth and ears, something peculiar was happening. The opening he had created in the ceiling of the Lava Lounge had frozen over with a thick sheet of ice, and Vulk had noticed. "Uh, guys..?" He was about to ask, only to be interrupted by the sound of a high-pitched alarm as a siren flashed blue lights around the bar. "Everyone out! We've got a code-blue!" The owner of the lounge, Bonferno, had rushed downstairs, shoving the various regulars and M.C.'s group out of the bar in a panic.

Stepping outside, M.C. was confused. "What's a code-blue?" He turned to Flain, who had stopped dead in his tracks, staring in surprise at something. M.C. too turned to face the oddity, and was surprised at the sight. The street bordering the lounge had frozen solid, and the ice was spreading fast into the Infernites District. "Make way!" A familiar voice cried out, as the Infernites cousins' Max burst through the crowd, spraying fire to attempt to contain the ice.
