After talking to Bakugo, Kirishima came to you next. He was still thinking about whether he wants to introduce you guys to the one he was dating but he didn't want it to crash and burn in the end, Red Riot wanted to make sure that whatever was going on between them was for real.
The only long-term couple he knows well, to ask for advice, is you and Bakugo - his best friends.
You were hanging out in their shared apartment with the other members of the Bakusquad (it was unofficial and Bakugo didn't want it at all), taking the entire Saturday off and watching tons of movies.
In between watching Sero's favorite Spiderman movie to Mina's Step Up, Bakugo had told them to take a break so he can make dinner. So while he was gone, Sero and Kaminari set up Kirishima's PlayStation to pass the time. They were not so good with waiting and would rather preoccupy themselves than bother Bakugo.
You and Mina joined Bakugo in the kitchen, actually, Mina just tagged along behind you because you two were going over the story about Ochako and Midoriya's date last weekend. Kirishima took this opportunity to join you guys and ask about it.
"Y/N?"
"Yes, Ei?"
"Can you tell me about when you fell in love with Bakugo?" He asked, a faint flush blossoming on his face. This took you and the other two by surprise - Mina stopped babbling and Bakugo actually glanced at you guys over his shoulder.
"Oh," You gave your friend a smile, "Is there any particular reason why you're so interested?"
It was Bakugo who answered, "He's dating someone. Wants to make sure it's love and crap." He resumed chopping up the vegetables he'll be using.
"Ah!"
"You're dating someone and you didn't tell us?"
You and Mina said respectively, this caused the pink blush on Kirishima's face to turn into a dark shade of red.
"When I fell in love with him?" You repeated the question while looking at your boyfriend who was busy. He was listening and waiting for your answer, of course.
"The summer before our second year."
Yes, you fell in love with Katsuki Bakugo first but you had to wait for the boy to confess first. Everyone knew how inexperienced he was with the entire dating thing and even though you have broken through his barriers, you were careful not to spook him too much.
You can remember the exact moment when you felt that surge of love for him.
Some of your classmates went home for the summer, most of you stayed in the dormitory to utilize the training grounds open for everyone to use. You stayed too, mostly because your mother was at a conference abroad and you didn't have anyone to come home to.
It saddened you a bit. Although you were much too used to being left home alone, it didn't erase the fact that you felt homesick. You envied your classmates who were packing up their stuff to go home to their families. There's Deku who was babbling on about seeing his mother again, Ochako who was excited to help out in their business back home, and even Yaomomo who was telling you about the party her family was throwing once she gets home.
Of course, you don't blame anyone. Even though your parents' marriage didn't work out, you were still on good terms with your mother and father. Your father worked overseas as a writer and your mother was busy as JP Top 12 Hero Waves.
"What's gotten you all quiet?"
You broke from your thoughts on the sofa of your dormitory's common area and glanced up at Katsuki Bakugo, who just came in after his daily training. You shook your head and fiddled with the magazine you didn't remember you had on your lap.
"Fuck that." He took the magazine from you and gave you a disapproving look, "You better talk right now." Bakugo settled on the space beside you while he was wiping his face with the towel he brought over.
It still amazed you how much this boy tries for you. He learned to be more open, to be a bit more affectionate, and to read you like an open book. Katsuki was deadset on being the best guy for you that he was learning everything he can to be able to cater to your needs.
"I'm just a bit jealous that I don't have a family to come home to like our classmates." You finally said, leaning your head on his shoulder. Katsuki doesn't budge, he would tell you off before but he welcomed it now because he had quite a soft spot for you. Something he'll never admit then.
"You got me." He murmured softly, looking at you with those red irises that don't fail to make your heart race.
It took so much for you to not blurt out an I love you that day.
"And that's when I realized." You pursed your lips, trying to hold back your laughter when your boyfriend looked at you. He didn't know about it and it was the first time he was hearing about it.
"Oh, and you just...knew?" Kirishima looked immersed in your story. Mina was too, even though she heard about it the same day you realized. It was just one of her favorite stories.
You nodded. "You really just know that you love the person."
Katsuki wiped his hands on the kitchen towel and raised an eyebrow at Mina and Kirishima. The two took this as a signal to leave.
"So... that's when you fell for me." Your boyfriend wrapped his arms around your waist, smirking smugly at the new knowledge.
You nodded, "Surprised?"
"No. Glad." He gave you a quick kiss on the lips before he said, "You still have me."
If you couldn't say it then, you'll say it now.
"I love you."
