Chapter 10: Can't catch a break

"I can assure you, it's nothing fancy it's only your basic apartment," I said with a chuckle while Nora just looked at me sceptically.

"I'm watching you, fearless leader," She said while I just chuckled. Then saw Ruby acting like a little puppy while eating her cookies in happiness.

"You know, Ruby you do act like a puppy sometimes," I said as I watched her munch on her cookies but as soon as she heard me say puppy, she stopped eating and lightly glared at me.

"What? I'm not a puppy, I'm Ruby, and why does everyone keep saying that," She said before going back to eating like a puppy.

"I don't know baby sis, you do act like a puppy sometimes," Yang said as ruby looked betrayed seeing her big sister calling her a puppy. As the rest of her team giggled thinking back to times, ruby honestly acted like a small puppy.

Everything was going splendid as I was hanging out with my friends until I suddenly got a call from HQ.

"Sorry guys, I'll have to take this," I said as I left the group while Nora and ruby pouted again.

"This is the Valean cleaning services calling about a shirt that needs to be picked up," A female voice said on the other side of the scroll.

"Ah yes, is it my white polo shirt?" I asked her while watching over my shoulder making sure none could hear me.

"Correct, your white polo shirt is now done. For confirmation please tell us your designated number," The female voice asked, knowing that each member had a designated number they had to say if they ever got a call off duty.

"Alpha, nine, eight, delta, zero, four," I said and was then connected to another caller.

"Captian Jaune, we currently have a troubling situation going on in a mall east of vale," The voice of a gruff man said.

"What kinda trouble?"

"Several hostages, this isn't the white fang, but it's another terrorist group, your team is already on the way," The man said, and I quickly asked for a location before hanging up.

"Hey guys, sorry but, I'll have to leave," I said as I walked back to the group.

"Wait why," Nora said as she looked sad.

"Job called, and they need me in, sorry," I said as Nora and ruby looked like sad kittens.

"Can't you ignore it?" Yang asked, but I just shook my head no.

"Sorry can't, I'll catch you guys later," I said as I ran towards my car.

After jumping into my car and driving towards the location. I got a text detailing the situation, such as how many hostages there were, along with an estimate on how many hostiles.

Driving towards the location didn't take long since, for the most part, I drove as fast as I could, knowing the police had already been informed of my arrival, meaning they shut off the street I was taking there.

I quickly put on a bandana before putting on my combat vest, pistol holster and loading my pistol and AR. My team walked up to me, all were wearing a form of t-shirt or jeans, but Aaron was wearing a pair of sweat pants with a black hoodie.

"Didn't have time to change?" I asked Aaron as I walked up to him.

"No, was at home taking it easy until I got the call, I just jumped into the car and drove here," He said as we began walking towards the commander of the situation.

"Has anyone entered the mall?" I asked the commanding officer on the scene who was standing in a tent overlooking the map of the building.

"Negative, the terrorist entered the mall by first blowing up a car not far from here and began killing the civilians before taking the rest hostages," The man said as he showed pictures of the terrorist entering the mall.
