Chapter 10: Can't catch a break

Jaune POV:

I was standing outside the bullhead docks waiting for team rwby, team NPR along with Coco and velvet to meet up. Ruby had called me wanting to hang out, since in her own words, "it had been far too long since I last saw my second bestie," Having earned a break from high command as the white fang wasn't doing much at the moment, they gave my squadron a break.

"That is a nice car, vomit boy," Yang said as she walked towards me with the rest of my friends. The car was a grey Toyota SUV with dustproof tires, windows and doors. It also had a secret compartment in the trunk where my gear, such as the combat vest, combat helmet with NVG, my rifle and pistol, was hidden in case I would get called on duty. Since V.S.O.G are also a quick reaction force and on duty 24/7.

"Thanks, got it, thanks to my job," I said with a smile as they approached.

"Your job gave you a car for free? where do you even work," Coco asked as she looked over the car.

"Can't tell you, promised my boss to be quiet," I said with a smirk as ruby and Nora pouted.

"Come, please not even for your bestie," Ruby said while trying puppy eyes as I just shook my head no.

"Sorry ruby, but I promised my boss," I said as I ruffled their heads while both of them just pouted even harder.

"As long as it isn't dangerous, I'm happy," Pyrrha said as we hugged while Ren tried to stop Nora from destroying the car in excitement.

"Yea, but it seems like you are happy with your work, but we do miss you back at the beacon," Blake said as I gave her a quick hug considering we had become friends early on in beacon when we met up in the library. I had trouble with port's homework while blake was reading. But she came in clutch when she noticed how hard I was struggling. After that, we slowly became friends by doing simple things such as reading or giving recommendations on new books.

"Correct, I'm also happy for you, Jaune," Weiss said with a slight smile. Before I was transported to earth, I had apologized for my behaviour, and we started a new and quickly became friends.

"Thank you, but now let's hang out shall we, I know of a good cafe not far from here. I believe they even serve pancakes," I said with a smile as Nora and Ruby brightened up at getting cookies or possibly pancakes at this cafe.

"Then what are we waiting for, let's go now," Nora said as she began dragging me away laughing while the rest of my friends followed.

The cafe wasn't very far, so I just left my car at the bullhead docks since hardly anyone would steal it, nor would we all be able to fit inside. We all sat currently slightly in the back of the cafe for peace and quiet while ruby and Nora happily munched on cookies and pancakes.

"How is beacon going so far?" I asked as I sipped on some coffee.

"It's going great, port's classes are still boring to the point you can fall asleep," Yang said while Weiss just shook her head.

"Ports classes are valuable if you pay attention," Weiss said as she sipped some tea.

"Right, because listening to a man talks about himself is extremely valuable," I said dryly while thinking back to that man's stories.

"Jaune has a point," Blake said as she read her book while Weiss just huffed and looked away.

"Anyways, where are you staying Jaune? since you don't live on campus anymore," Pyrrha asked curiously, not wanting to hear I was living on the street.

"Got an apartment, nothing to fancy," I said since the council had given us a small apartment to live in whenever we are not staying on the base.

"It must be an extremely fancy apartment then fearless leader," Nora said as she ate her pancakes while Ren sighed as he wiped away pancakes crumbs of her face like a toddler.
