Reiner blinked in confusion as she went off. Did she actually just thank him?

He shook off the shock and slipped the gun into it's holster on his waist as he chased after the rest of the group.

They reached the highway in a matter of minutes, all out of breath and ready to collapse.

"What now?" Jean asked as he straightened up and scanned the road for any danger.

"We need a vehicle. Preferably one where we could all fit, but if not then let's try to limit it to only two," Eren replied. He stepped out into the sunlight and climbed up the small hill to the road, hopping over the concrete guardrail. Mikasa and (F/N) followed suit, and not wanting to be left behind, Armin trailed behind them with the rest of the group.

"What about that truck?" Reiner called out, gesturing to the black pick-up.

"We literally just said we would try to find one to fit all ten of us. Were you not listening?" (F/N) snapped. Reiner sighed. Her politeness was nice while it lasted.

"Well this is a national highway right?" Armin said, using his hand to block the sun from his vision as he looked around. "So that means there has to be an RV somewhere. Of course, that doesn't mean it'll be usable, but it's worth looking into."

Connie nodded from beside him. "Armin's right. I used to use this highway to travel into the city for work and I'd always see RV's from different states going by."

"An RV would be extremely helpful too. Not only would it fit all of us, but it would also provide some kind of lodging. It would be easier to take turns driving because we'll be able to rest up comfortably."

Murmurs of agreement ran over the group of ten, and (F/N) found herself nodding and climbing on top of the car close to her. "If you see one anywhere, just holler. Keep an eye out for any stiffs."

The group split up, half going on top of cars and half walking around for any unexpected visitors.

(F/N) was ready to give up and move further down the road when Bertholdt yelled out that he saw one down the road.

She jumped down from the car and rushed over to where he stood on top of an SUV, his eyes cupped with his hands as he squinted at the brown vehicle.

"It's a little far away, but it's there. I'm sure of it," he told her. She copied him to see better, leaning forward slightly and staring hard in the distance until she could finally make out the outline of tall vehicle.

"I see it. It's far, you're right about that, but it's better than nothing," she agreed, dropping her arms and smiling up at him. "Good job, Bertl."

He returned her smile and climbed off the SUV before offering his hand to her, which she gratefully took for him to help her down.

"This way!" She called out, letting Bertholdt lead the way as she waited and did a head count to make sure everyone came.

She frowned when she only counted up to eight including herself. Two were missing.

She turned to look over at everyone as they followed Bertholdt, recounting twice to be sure, and then checking to see who the two missing people were.

Sasha and Mikasa.

Her frown deepened. An odd pair to be missing. (F/N) started walking in the opposite direction of the others to find the two girls, eyes peeled for a flash of black or dark auburn hair.

She didn't have to look for long, however, because crying gave away their location. She stepped to the side and rounded around the red car, finding Sasha on her knees with her face in her hands and Mikasa crouched down beside her.
