The hatch closed again, she guessed Jean had followed them in and closed it, and Reiner turned to face the four at the table, his smile never slipping from his face until his eyes landed on (F/N).
His eyes softened slightly whereas hers narrowed, watching his every move carefully. Bertholdt frowned and began sweating when he saw her.
"(F/N), this is Bertholdt and Reiner," Eren introduced, finally turning to look at them and gesturing to her. "Reiner, Bertholdt. This is (F/N). I'm sure I've mentioned her before. She's the one I've known since kindergarten."
"Yeah, you spoke about her plenty of times," Reiner replied, his eyes never leaving her face. "It's nice to finally meet you. Eren's been so worried about you ever since you left. I'm sure he's relieved that you came back okay."
"Yeah," she drawled, her glare never easing up. "I understand why. It'd be such a shame if I got jumped by two random men and they stole some of my supplies; but you're right, I came back perfectly fine, thanks."
Bertholdt flinched at the sharp tone of her voice, his sweating picking up while Reiner forced a weak smile onto his face. "Well, welcome back."
(F/N) sighed and resisted the urge to roll her eyes before throwing her cards down. "I'm tired. Wake me up whenever you want me to take a watch shift."
Connie frowned as she stood and started walking away. "Aw, don't be such a party pooper, (F/N)! We haven't seen you in months, and you aren't even going to stay up?"
"She's tired, you idiot. She's probably barely slept since she's been alone," Eren scowled.
"You're right," she called over her shoulder as she slowly removed her shoes. She paused to look Reiner dead in the eye. "that and my face hurts like hell." She had to bite back a smirk as he flinched.
However much she enjoyed doing this to him, she really was exhausted and hadn't slept more than two hours every night if at all within the past six months since she left the group.
"Don't worry about taking a shift," Eren responded. "You need the rest."
She didn't speak her thanks, but Eren knew she was thinking it when he caught the half-smile on her face as she set her shoes down beside Armin's mattress.
Slowly and carefully as to not wake him up, (F/N) crawled onto the mattress on the floor and slid under the covers, scooting closer to him until she was almost pressed against his chest.
He snorted softly in his sleep but did not stir; however, he did raise his arm slightly in a gesture for her to come closer, and when she was close enough to wrap her arms around his waist, he hugged her to his chest until she fell into her first deep sleep in half a year.
She must have slept for a long time too, because when she woke up, Sasha was standing in the small kitchen area making lunch as everyone either sat in chairs or on their own mattress, all laughing and talking with each other.
Armin was missing from her side, and immediately she felt colder without his body to snuggle into.
She rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she sat up, flinching as she rubbed too hard on the bruise.
The rustling of the sheets drew attention, because next thing she knew, a plate was being set down in front of her.
"Eat up!" Sasha chirped. "You look like you could use the food!"
"Although, you look a lot better now that you've slept for fourteen hours," Jean commented as he stabbed at his food.
"I was out that long?" She asked, her voice weak from lack of use. The plate was warm as she picked it up and it smelled so good that she was tempted to just slam her face into it.
