Chapter 4

My name is Seth Clearwater

La Push

I listened to Jacobs screams as Carlisle rebroke his bones knowing that any spell I tried would only worsen things. Wrapping my arms tighter around myself standing outside a good seven feet from the pack. Stuck in my thoughts, until the youngest shifter came to stand next to me.

"Hi," He beamed, holding out his hand. "My name's Seth Clearwater; you aren't one of the Cullen's, are you?"

I shook his hand. "Vivian Romanian or well I guess it's Hale for now but anyway no I am just a friend who is visiting. For as long as they will let me."

"That's cool," His brown eyes captured mine again and I did something I couldn't explain. I hugged him, I didn't know why I just wanted to feel safe, and he made me feel safe. "Um... are you ok Viv?"

"Sorry," I let go of him. "I don't know why I did that."

"It's ok, I don't mind, I like hugs."

"Hey, lovebirds get over here," One of the shifters shouted at us.

I looked down a slight blush taking over my face, looking up to see Seth blushing too.

"Shut up Embry!" Seth exclaimed, causing me to giggle like a schoolgirl.

We made our way over to where the rest of the pack stood as Carlisle started to speak.

"The worst is over; he'll be all right. I gave him some morphine, but his body temperature will burn it off soon. I'll come back to set up the drip."

"Thank you," Billy said, before looking at me. "Also thank you, you didn't have to keep him calm."

"It's ok, it's not the first time I have helped the shifters of La Push and it won't be the last," I said, giving Billy a small smile.

Carlisle touched my shoulder startling me, I jumped, and the pack laughed, causing me to blush. "Time to go,"

Carlisle sped off, as I was about to follow, Seth stopped me. "Can I talk to you?"

"Aren't you already talking to me?"

"Funny Viv and we go somewhere more private?" Seth asked, shaking his head smiling.

"You can walk me to the treaty line,"

"I'll take it," He laughed, and I smiled seeing him happy which made me overjoyed.

We started walking, getting wolf-whistled by the rest of the pack excluding Leah. The walk was silent for a while, Seth broke the silence.

"How long have you known about the tribe?"

"Almost seventy years, why?" I questioned, crossing my arms.

"I was just wondering how long you had been you know..."

"A filthy bloodsucker?" I asked incredulously.

"No! I didn't mean it like that I was simply curious I have only met a few and none of them have heterochromia and you are different in so many ways that I just-"

"It's ok to answer your question, I was born in 400 AD to a vampire father and a witch mother, I wasn't bitten. I am only half-vampire."

"I didn't know that vampires could have children."

"As far as I know I am the only one, my mother theorized the only reason she could have me was the slight biological differences between witches and humans," I explained, looking up at him.

"That's why you have a heartbeat, and you can cry,"

"How did you know I could cry?" I asked, stopping for a second.

"I could feel it after we first met, it was weird at first. I didn't feel anything besides this strange weight in my mind. Then it was like I was panicking with you, and then I got so sad for no reason. I guessed it was you," He shrugged, freezing realizing what he just said.

"You could feel it?"

"Um... well I wasn't going to tell you tonight but here we go. How much do you know about the pack?"

"You imprinted on me," I whispered stunned, stopping to stare at him. "The constant thoughts about you were the mate bond and the witch blood linked our emotions when I saw you for the first time. I was just too stupid to see past Edward breaking up with me for the human."

"Wait, you and Edward dated?"

"We courted for sixty years, why is that important?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.

"You were in a relationship for sixty years," Seth squeaked, he looked terrified then sad.

"Edward and I just wanted to have someone to lean on until we found the right people for us. I thought I loved him, and he loved me, I was wrong."

Relief flooded Seth's eyes, he grabbed me holding me close to his chest. "I won't let anyone hurt you again." He mumbled in my hair. "We're at the treaty line so this is where we part ways. For now."

"I'll see you soon don't worry; I am good at sneaking out," I whispered, pulling away, placing a light kiss to his cheek. "Tomorrow, noon at the cafe in town, don't be late."

I took off running, not giving him a chance to answer. The second I was at the house I went straight to my room avoiding everyone. I need time to think and plan an outfit for tomorrow, the first date since the breakup, and nothing would ruin this for me.

"Where are you off to?" Carlisle called stopping me from going out the front door.

"Oh, you look so pretty," Alice gushed, looking me over. "I love that dress, the purple suits you."

"You are really going to meet that mutt?" Edward spat, crossing his arms. "I thought you had better taste in men after dating me but here you are going for a boy."

"It's none of your business Edward," I snapped, grabbing the door handle. "And stay out of my head."

Emmett had given me the keys to his jeep when Rosie did my hair, they didn't think it was a good idea at first, but they came around. They wanted me to be happy after what Edward had done and said, "If he will make you happy then you have our full support."

I drove into town well over the speed limit arriving ten minutes early to find Seth already there sat at a table waiting.

"You're early,"

"And I happen to be the luckiest guy in the world," Seth grinned, standing to pull my chair out for me.

"Why is that Mr. Clearwater?" I asked, grinning at him.

"You actually came, I thought it was a joke, the guys were telling me that you wouldn't show and-"

I cut him off. "You worry too much, I would never hurt you, physically, emotionally, mentally. Why would I want to damage someone who is perfect?"
