Normal personality: Cross is confident and self-assured, with a steady presence that commands respect without needing to prove himself loudly. He carries himself with an air of quiet determination, a product of his hard-earned survival skills and his adaptability. He's also reserved and somewhat introverted, which can make him come across as distant. This distance, however, is more about focus and vigilance rather than a desire to disconnect—he's constantly observing and learning from his surroundings and those around him. At his core, Cross possesses a strong sense of honor and fairness, though his approach is complex. He values justice deeply and has little patience for arrogance, entitlement, or cruelty. His experiences as a former mercenary make him aware of moral gray areas, but his interactions with mentors and friends have led him to a path where he's willing to bend rules and take risks for the right reasons. Backstory

As a child, Cross grew up as an orphan. Never knowing who his parents were or if he had any other family members, the only thing he has that might hint at their existence is the cross pendant he constantly wears, which he's had for as long as he can remember and is the reason for his name, but even this he is unsure of. With no parents or guardian to guide him, Cross had to teach himself how to survive on his own, and learned how to forge his own weapons and equipment, both out of necessity and as a way to express himself. As time went on, Cross eventually became a mercenary, and he took a job from a particularly sketchy client. Unbeknownst to him, it would involve the destruction of an entire peaceful village, which weighed heavily on Cross's conscience, causing him to question the morality of his mercenary lifestyle. He became reclusive, distancing himself from others and living with the constant reminder of the village he helped destroy. It wasn't until he met Qrow, a seasoned Huntsman, that Cross began to see a way to redeem himself. Qrow saw potential in Cross, and took him under his wing as a mentor and father figure, helping him to come to terms with his past and to use his skills for good.
