Chapter Four: Endless Conversations

That night after I went back home, I couldn't get my mind off of Mason. Our conversations, his smile, the way he looked at me, the way he and I had that moment in the parking lot. It just wouldn't stop. I was smiling the entire time I ate, and took a shower.

I came out of the shower and drew a smiley on the fogged mirror, which I usually don't do. I heard the phone ring from my bedside table and I went to see who it was.

It was Sharon.

"Heyyy.." I answer

"Girl, we missed you! It was so much fun going back to the school! We took a ton of pictures, and JUST came back home." She spoke endlessly

"Oh... I wish I were there too!" I said as I cursed my brothers car in my head.

"By the way... Mason asked about you..." she began to say and I cut her before she says anything else.

"What did he say?!" I ask nervously but change the tone of my voice to make sure I don't sound too excited.

"Umm.. he asked for your number... and I said I'd have to ask you before giving it out."

"Of cou.... Umm... yeah I mean it's cool. You can give it to him if you want to... just to keep in touch, he seems like a nice guy."

"Oooookay...." She says and I hear her giggle

"What?" I ask, confused

"Nothing... it's just new to see Mason like this. And definitely new giving out your number."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, he seemed very happy, and was eager to get your number. I never saw him behave like that since..." her voice was cut off and the call disconnected

"Shit." I try dialing back but her phone must've died because it didn't ring.

I couldn't sleep that night, thinking and asking myself why Mason wanted my number and what Sharon was referring to when she said she never saw him like this since something.

I didn't realize I fell asleep until I woke up to a notification on my phone. With half open eyes I stared into my phone screen to see it was a Facebook notification that said "Mason Valentin sent you a friend request."

My heart felt like it stopped. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming and looked again. It was 100% not a dream.

I then get a message from Sharon ** hey! Sorry my phone died earlier, I have Mason your number and FB just an FYI. Love ya. Ttyl

I stared at my phone for at least an hour hesitating to click accept but I finally gave in.

I then froze again when I opened up messenger to send him a text. Thinking whether I should text him or not.

That's when I saw him send a message before I could...

**Hey... did you get home okay?
Within no time I replied
* Hi, yeah I did. Thanks 😊
** Cool... sup?
* Nothing much. Just woke up to your friend request.
**ohh haha! Sorry for waking you up...go back to sleep and we'll talk in the AM. Gonna head over to crash too.
* Okay. Sounds good! Night!
** Before I say bye... just wanted to say again that I had a great time today. It was seriously nice meeting you Julie. 😄

I felt my cheeks warm up as I smiled.

*likewise 💫 btw I don't think I'll be able to sleep 😅

** Well, I can tell you if you can come to the movies with us on Sunday.
